Livestream was not working today, Cadresphere! Still wanted to share my Shangri-La with you! ❤️
Christy greets viewers, explains she's recording from her porch by a calm, glass-like lake, and notes technical issues with her app while setting up the session.
Christy describes the concept and literary origin of Shangri-La, mentions a nearby campground with that name, and recounts a conversation with friends about their personal peaceful paradises.
Christy invites viewers to close their eyes and notice what they hear, see, smell, and feel, encouraging them to take in sensory details and emotions to create a restorative inner retreat.
Using imagery of sunlit palms, warm sea breezes, coconut scent, and pine trees with birdsong, Christy demonstrates how short sensory visualizations can feel like a vacation and leave you refreshed.
Christy encourages viewers to visit their Shangri-La often, notes it can change day to day, and closes with well wishes and a friendly goodbye.
Hi Cadre Sphere, welcome. Hi, Christy Larson here, coming to you from Wisconsin. I am just sitting out on my porch like I was last week when I was with you and staring out at the beautiful lake that is like glass. There's not a single ripple on the lake. There's not a single leaf blowing in the trees. It's an absolutely beautiful summer day. even though we're kind of winding down summer and getting into fall, it's a beautiful summer day still here in Wisconsin. Thanks for joining me. My Cadre app is still not doing the right things for me.
It's making me all crooked and wonky in the screen and it's hard to see me. So I wanted to make sure that I recorded my what was to be my live stream today with you because it is something that I've been thinking about. We had some friends, some good friends of ours up last weekend to the Lake home and we were talking about Shangri-La. For those of you that have heard of Shangri-La, it is kind of the definition of a hidden utopia or a peaceful paradise on earth. And it was made famous by an author named James Hilton in a 1933 novel called Lost Horizon.
We looked it all up. There's actually a campground named Shangri-La here close to me. And so we got on the subject of your peaceful paradise. We all had a different version of our peaceful paradise or our Shangri-La and it was really interesting to hear where other people went in their peaceful paradise and I found that as I've been kind of thinking about this for the last few days, each day my peaceful paradise changes just a little bit depending on where I'm at and what I'm doing and what I'm feeling and how I'm feeling and So I thought it would be fun today to give us a little taste of your peaceful paradise.
So when I go to my peaceful paradise, I close my eyes and I think about what do I hear? What do I see? What do I smell? What are some of the experiences that are around me, some of the things that are happening that are around me. Think about some of those things. Take in the smells, take in the sounds, take in the feelings that you're having, the things that it's making you feel. And what I found is when I open my eyes, I feel brand new. I feel like I've had a vacation. And some days when I close my eyes, it is the bright sun in the palm trees and the warm misty breeze off the sea and the smell of coconut in the air and the taste of the salty, the salty sea, the salty air that's coming in.
And some days it's pine trees and I smell grass and I hear birds. And I feel a warm breeze coming off the tall grasses. So every day can be a little bit more of a vacation to your peaceful paradise. I wanted to share that with you today because of the way that when I come out of that, whether it's just for a couple minutes or whether I am soaked and immersed in that for 10 minutes, 15 minutes, whatever it takes, I come out of that and I feel like I've had a vacation. I feel good. So I encourage you to do that.
I encourage you to take a moment and go to your Shangri-La. And it might be different today than it is tomorrow, but when you come out of it, you'll feel renewed, refreshed. Take care, Cadre Sphere. Be well and take that moment today to give yourself a little inside vacation. Have a good day everybody.
