She announces the episode's theme—taking a leap of faith—and mentions a tarot draw that resonated with the topic. She asks viewers to share their experiences about making sober choices and taking that initial leap.
Jen describes many iterations of trying to become sober across two decades of active addiction, explaining how private mantras and quiet vows repeatedly failed. She sets up the contrast between past attempts and a later, more lasting change.
She shares the pivotal realization that 100% sobriety wasn't attainable on her own and that she needed help. This acceptance marked the true leap of faith toward trusting others as part of her recovery.
Jen asks reflective questions about who was around to support past changes and how much responsibility was shared versus kept internal. She encourages listeners to think about the role of others in achieving goals.
Speaking from current experience taking big leaps in business and personal life, she emphasizes confirming intentions to yourself and then sharing them with trusted people who can check in and hold you accountable. She frames leaving comfort as the core of a leap of faith and invites viewers to share recent examples.
Jen thanks viewers, says she'll check comments later if she misses them live, and signs off with a friendly goodbye and a note to see everyone next week.
Having some issues with connection today. I'm so sorry. I was just touring a new sauna venture in Minneapolis and was hoping to make it a quick live stream to check in with you all for sober not somber hour via mobile and out about in the city today. So yeah, I'm your host, Jen Varale. Hopefully this all comes through. A topic for today, CadreSphere, is taking a leap of faith. So this has been part of some conversations recently, also been part of a tarot card that I drew weeks ago. And I think the idea of Taking a leap of faith in sobriety with the sober journey is something that really resonates and something that I think it's worth talking about.
So if you are hopping in on the chat, let me know. What was it like if you made sober choices or have a sober lifestyle in the beginning? What was it like to make that leap of faith and say, I'm really going to try this sobriety thing for real this time? I myself had many iterations of trying to become sober. you know, with 20 years of active addiction and sort of wanting to take that that leap to believe, but never really achieving it. And so what stuck? What stuck when I finally 11 years ago decided I'm ready to take the leap of faith and believe in myself enough to really believe that sobriety was a healthy and long term choice that I could make.
And I could actually trust myself that I would do as I said to not drink. And after so many years of doing or saying that or proclaiming, I'm going to do this, I'm going to become sober. And mostly those times in active addiction for 20 years were just a little mantra I would say to myself that I never shared with anyone. So I also was not really taking the full leap of faith. I was sort of, you know, let's just test this out. Let just myself, you know, know about it and hold myself accountable.
And yeah, that didn't work so well. It didn't work so well for 20 some years. So the leap of faith piece had to do with coming to the absolute realization that I was not able to achieve sobriety, 100% sobriety. On my own, I needed help. I needed help. And part of that leap of faith then was not just believing in me, but it was more trusting others, trusting others to help with my sober journey. So I don't know if that resonates with anyone when you're making the big choices in terms of like taking a leap of faith.
Who's around you when you've done that in the past? Who supported you? And how much of it was you internally and how much of it in order to achieve whatever you set out to do? How much did that relied on other people? How much did you give sort of that that away so that you could achieve whatever you set out to? Yeah, those are my thoughts today. I I'm currently working on taking big leaps of faith for myself and business. And it's a tough position to be in, but I again, am recognizing that it's something that I internally am feeling, but it's even more powerful to think about those around you who can support you in that leap of faith.
So part of that is number one, feeling it and confirming it to yourself. And then I think sharing it with others, sharing what that leap of faith is that you're going to take. Sharing that with someone, having some trusted person that you know can check in with you, hold you accountable, and really help you go to that next level of change. So, you know, going against the status quo and what you've always known, which our nervous systems, our bodies all, I think, strive to be in comfort, feeling comfort and getting out of that comfort zone is exactly that leap of faith.
So I'd love to hear if you've had any leaps of faith lately and what they looked like, drop them in the chat. And if I don't catch you now in the live stream, I will check comments later and yeah, see if anyone has had a leap of faith just in general recently or maybe even related to sobriety, sober choices. So That's it for me today. I will see you next week. Have a great Tuesday. Ciao ciao.
