You hear about Tim Olson
What up everybody? It's Luke. Happy Monday to you and yours. Good morning, good morning. Thanks for joining. Let's give it a second here. Happy Monday to you. Hopefully everybody had a wonderful Easter weekend. Don't tell the time. Thank you for joining. Oh, here we go. We're ready. It is Monday. I'm excited to be here. Thank you for showing up again. My name is Luke Wentland. I've been at CADRE since day one. What up, Christy? What up, Ken? Everybody else that's popping in. So good to see you all.
Thanks for joining. Like I said, my name is Luke Wendlandt, Bennett Cadre since day one. It is the honor and a privilege to be here every day, most notably my Monday morning, Monday morning, Monday motivation. It's what I live for. I've been doing this for years. It's always something that drives some level of urgency, energy, commitment that's just really important to me. So like I said, thanks for joining. Thanks for being a part of it. Just listening to David Bowie in the background. It's perfect.
Our weekend was phenomenal. My kids and I and my wife, we went up north to visit my father-in-law. It was the best, best time up there with him. We brought him a big plate of food. Up north, they make sarmas. If you guys have ever heard of those before, sarmas, Slovenian dish. So they're sarmas. And then we had, my gosh, sweet potatoes, ham, everything else that we brought up to my father-in-law at the nursing home. And it was always great to see my buddy Howard up there. Howard has been looking for his room for the last probably about six months.
And every time I see him, he always says the same thing. Do you know which room is mine? And I'm like, Howard, I got you, bud. And then take him there. But it's really humbling to take the kids and to show him the nursing home. in what this looks like for, longevity and death and grief and, the future of life or the end of life, rather, of what that will ultimately look like. But it's always good to bring the kids up there to show grandma and grandpa and, you know, where grandpa's at. So at any rate, it was a phenomenal Easter.
We live it. We live for it. We love it. We love going up there, spending time. It's just really important and critical to us and our family. But on the way back, I always, so we had two separate cars because of the times that we were leaving. So in one vehicle was my wife and she brought the dogs, the other vehicle with the kids. So it was myself, my son Drew, my daughter Ada, my son Cameron. And so I always throw something on. Like I always throw something on. It could be Kobe Bryant interview.
It could be something that I'm listening to my kids with that I hope, Matthew McConaughey, whatever. So I went to the depths of the internet and I found Timothy Olson. Are you guys ready for this? So I found this guy by the name of Timothy Olson. So Timothy, he's ran many, many 100 mile races, 200 mile races, you name it, finished in world record time in a lot of these, which is just insane if you think about it. But so he had a big goal last year, which was to run from the, it's the Pacific Coast Trail, and it's all the way from Mexico.
You ready for this? All the way from Mexico to Canada, and it's over 2,000 plus miles. But his goal was not to just to run the trail, but it was to be the all-time record holder, which means you'd have to finish this in 52 days. So if you're like me, that the very first thing is you start doing the math, and you start to realize Oh my gosh, this guy's gotta go 50 plus miles. It's almost 52 miles every single day. Let me say this again. 52 miles every day for 51 straight days. And I will post this in the chat so you can see and you can watch this YouTube.
It has like one plus million views. It's just incredible. But the journey of this guy to realize like day 30 in, his leg was, I mean, something was going on, tendonitis, I have no idea. I mean, I can't imagine putting that much pressure and pain on your feet and on your body each and every day. But regardless, this guy ended up finishing and he broke the world records. His name is Timothy Olson. This guy, was trying to figure out what to do in between alcohol and substances. And he realized that his number one think tank time was running.
And it allowed him to slow himself down and almost meditate. So he's like, my first time, I barely got half a mile and threw up. My second time, barely getting a mile. Third time, barely get a mile. Fifth, 7th time, barely getting miles. And then finding a way through it and then continuing work through all those emotions and feelings that he was going through to be able to realize like his mind best is suited to slow down and shut down when he runs. He would talk about the serotonin and all the other things that he was sharing.
Well nonetheless, this story just allows you to like intrinsically think to yourself Gosh, I got this big for Luke, Luke, me personally. I have this big run coming up May 27th where I'm going to run 45 miles around White Bear Lake, four times where I'm 4 1/2 times around White Bear Lake, right? So it's like this guy did this 51, basically 51 more days. I could do one day. I can do one day, right? So I got this big walk coming up, this massive walk around the state of Minnesota, right? It's coming up end of June, early July.
This guy ran 2,500 miles or whatever ended up being straight. Just straight every day. Same thing every day. Like routine, same thing every day. Like I can get up and walk several miles every day and just keep going. So I think there's a perspective check when you start to look at some of the greats of doing what they do, which is almost like inhuman. Like how in the world can somebody pull this off? And then to think like, he actually did it. So, you know, I can do some big things too. You know, I can go out and run my first mile.
I can go out and run my first 5K. I can do that big walk around the block. Like I can do those things. And I know you can too. So my message to you is not saying you're Timothy Olson, nor am I. There's probably only one Timothy Olson on this planet. Maybe there's a few more. Who knows? But we can too do some unbelievable things. And I just want to make sure that we all hear that. We can do incredible things if we allow ourselves to do it. So I wanted to tell you that story today push that to have your chips be pushed in on something, whatever the something is to say, I'm going to go and I'm going to start that art class.
I'm going to go start that art class. You know what I'm going to do? I'm going to get up and I'm going to go for that walk. I am going to, at lunchtime, I am going to change the dietary restrictions that I've been talking about for years. This evening, I am going to show up to my kids' sporting events without a phone. Whatever your thing is, you can do it. If sweet Timmy Olson can run literally 2 marathons every single day for 50-some days in a row, Again, I'm going to share this. It's 57 minutes.
My kids are in the background, like just mesmerized by what this guy is doing. Because think about it. My daughter's basketball coach said, Ada, if you can run 3 miles each week, you are going to get faster. And she's like, he did 48 of these more than me in a week, like in a, excuse me, in a day that I would do in a week. Like, so again, like it's not to like put yourself down by thinking of this. It's to actually build yourself up. Like to say, if you can do it, I can do it too. There's no doubt about it.
So at any rate, my message to you is I am going to have a post, post this live, and you will see Timothy Olson and Timothy Olson's journey. I encourage you to watch this. Without a doubt, like every year I have the person I want to meet So this year it's Tim Olson. I will meet Tim Olson this year. So last year, maybe it's in the past life, it's been David Goggins or this person or this person or whoever it is. But this one without a doubt is going to be Timothy Olson. And I will meet him this year and I will figure out like how he gets to these places.
Like when you're feeling broken or you're feeling away or whatever that is, you know, how does he just keep going? So at any rate, my message to you is you got this and I cannot wait to see what it is you're going to start and what it is you're going to do, no matter how big or small it is amazing. So with love, I'm going to end with this. And again, hopefully you had the most amazing, incredible weekend with your family. That is a fact. Little Bowie, you can never go along with Bowie. Heroes. There's this one part coming up, it's one of my favorites.
Yeah, we can be heroes Just for one day What'd you say? I just love that part right there. All right, you take care, everybody. Thank you so much for joining. Peace.
