Our minds are powerful. Let’s discuss how a simple shift in suffix makes a difference
Jean Nichols greets viewers from her car, invites them to breathe and arrive, and introduces the ongoing limited versus limitless conversation with today’s focus on an abundance mindset.
She situates the message with references to the full moon and surrounding energy, emphasizes taking ownership of what we can, and signals that she will share a related personal story.
Jean recounts a recent indoor cycling event with a live DJ and community vibe, then explains the parking situation across the street at a McDonald’s lot and how cars often get towed on weekend nights.
After briefly visiting a neighboring bar, Jean and friends discover one car missing; they call the tow company, and Jean drives her friend to the impound for safety and support, setting up the lesson.
Instead of anger, Jean’s friend reflects on how fortunate she is to have stable finances, housing, and supportive friends, framing the incident as a reminder of growth and limitless thinking.
Jean explains how focusing on possibilities and gratitude calms the body, notes that emotions are short-lived if allowed to pass, and invites viewers to try small acts of abundant thinking and journaling today.
She chooses to view the rainy Monday as an opportunity to slow down and rest, asks viewers to name one thing they’re grateful for, and signs off with love and encouragement to share or journal.
Hello, Monday. Jean Nichols here. Coming to you straight from my car. I'll take my seatbelt off. I'm not driving. I'm not moving. So don't worry about that. I'm just sitting here in the rain. A lovely rain. I'm hoping that the rain washes away some of the allergens because my eyes are going bonkers with allergies right now. But I am excited to be here today holding space with you guys. As you come in, whether you're on replay or if you're live, my invitation is always just take a breath. You arrived.
You're here. Today, I'm continuing the conversation limited versus limitless. And we're going to focus specifically on the mindset of abundance. Now this week, if you're into moonology and I'll have to post something later in the week, it is a full moon. We are in tourist season. There's all kinds of energy activity that is surrounding us. And I'm one of the people that believes that there's more to this thing in life than just showing up as our humanness. There are sometimes factors in our control and out of our control.
but really taking ownership of the things that we can. So when you think about abundance mindset, it goes along again with limited and limitless. But I'm going to share with you a story. So this past weekend, it was on Friday night, we did an event at our cycle bar studio. It was an NA wellness event where we did an indoor cycling class with a live DJ. We had some really great post-drink snacks, beverages, and additional live DJ music, and it was really a lot of fun. And it was just a great way for community to come together and just have a nice Friday night together.
Now our studio is in uptown Minneapolis, and right across the street from our studio, there appears to be an open parking lot. It's not actually an open parking lot, it's owned by a McDonald's. And what will happen inevitably on the weekends is people will come in and they'll park in the McDonald's parking lot instead of parking on the street paying for parking. And the people that own the McDonald's parking lot, they don't like it. So they call this tow company and they tow cars. So I'm in the studio with our team.
30 at night. We're cleaning up everything. And all of a sudden, one of the people on my team comes in and says, Oh no, McDonald's, they're towing cars. And usually we'll just kind of run to the front and watch and see who comes chasing for their cars 'cause it's kind of an event. These guys are very fast and sometimes you can talk them down. Why do I know this? My car has almost gotten towed at least twice and I've talked my way out of both of them. However, after we done cleaning up our team, the people that had parked there moved their cars in time And I went next door because a couple of the people went to, there's a bar next door and they were having a live DJ event.
So we went over there and I was there for two songs. I was like, that's it. I'm coming to say hello and then I'm going home and going to bed. And so I did. I went over, I said hello. I grabbed the two other girls and we all walked out together. One of the girls says to me, my car, it's gone. And I was like, you didn't park at McDonald's on a Friday night, did you? And she's like, yeah, I didn't know. And I was like. So sure enough, her car got towed. She called the company, etc. I gave her a ride to the impound so that she wouldn't be there by herself.
That would be unsafe in my opinion to send a friend to an impound lad as a single female at 11 o'clock on a Friday night, that doesn't feel good. So here's why I'm bringing this story in. In that moment, my friend had a choice. She could have been livid, really super mad, mad at McDonald's, mad at the world. She did say to me one time, like, why didn't you tell me? I was like, I didn't know you were parked there. And we were in two completely different places. So I wouldn't have even known to have, to have made her aware.
Um, but in that moment she could have been a lot of things. And so as we're driving there, she looks at me and she says, you know what? I feel really lucky right now. And I was like, say more. And she goes, well, if I would have gotten towed, three years ago when I was still in college, I wouldn't have had the money. It would have caused me to probably have to miss my rent or I would have had to call my mom to get my car out. And then she said, so I'm really lucky right now. I have a good job, I have a savings account and I'm not happy about this, but I made the choice and I feel really lucky that I have a job, I have the money, I have a home.
and all of these things that she was super grateful for. And then she said, And I have a friend good enough that they'll drive me there so I don't have to be there by myself. And so she approached a situation that a lot of people would be really angry about from a place of abundance. And I asked her, I was like, Well, tell me tell me why you feel this way right now. And she said, You know, I have choices. And I could be really upset about it, but it's just that energy I don't want to put into the world right now because so many good things are happening in my life and I'm choosing to just think of abundance and how grateful I am for the experiences that I have.
And she said, who knows, maybe this saved me from an accident or something on my way home. And I just thought that that was really beautiful. So when we're thinking about limited versus limitless thinking, to me, that's an example of limitless thinking. So when we can focus on things like gratitude and abundance, it doesn't mean that maybe we don't want something in our life to change. But what it does mean is that when we focus on the possibilities, we allow the energy in our body to feel nurtured, to feel a little bit more calm.
And we can put that energy into the universe and be more aware for all the tiny little blessings that come our way. Not anything, everything is gonna swoop in and be this big, huge, epic event. Sometimes limitless thinking, abundant thinking, grateful thinking is about just recognizing the tiny, tiny small things as each of them comes up, because when we put them all into a bundle, it can be something really great. And so that night was just another reminder to me of just finding ways in moments to change our perspectives so that we can attract the energy and the experiences that really are going to add value into our lives and recognizing that not every experience is going to be great or amazing.
But when we allow ourselves to feel whatever that emotion is, in that moment and allow that emotion and that feeling to move through us and then choosing in a following moment to create a new narrative. Sometimes that's all it takes for us to take a step forward and move. There are a lot of things that can hold us back. There are a lot of reasons why just changing that little tiny mindset can be really hard. But in the moments where we can remember, taking that breath, allowing ourselves to feel that emotion, and emotion typically only stays in our body for 90 seconds according to science.
It's what we think in our mind that allows it to live longer. How might we take a few more opportunities, even just today, to focus on that gratitude and to allow for a tiny amount of abundant thinking and just see what occurs next, what maybe we'd write in our journal, what conversations we might have, what stories we might share. So today on this Monday, when it's raining, I'm choosing abundantly to think about all the things I get to do right now because on rainy days, I feel like moving slower through my day, which means I'm allowing myself to rest, to pause, to observe.
So today I'm grateful for a rainy Monday so that I can slow down and really ease my way into the week. I hope you all have an abundant Monday and are able to find one thing today that you are the most grateful for? And if you want to type it in the comments, go for it. I always come back. Or if you just so simply want to write it in a journal, feel free to do that too. I hope you all have a beautiful Monday. I love you and I will see you again soon.
