It’s easy to be negative. That’s one side of this. It’s also easy to not let your partner in. Both can apply
"It's all good " can be a trap many of us fall into in a relationship. The key is to tell the truth without over sharing, without overdoing it, without putting a burden on your partner. That is the core of healthy communication and a healthy relationship.
All right, well, this is definitely a first for me, where I am doing a live stream from the beach. I had a volleyball game that went over, and so I have no idea how this is gonna go, but I wanted to maintain my commitment to Cadre. So. Hello, Cadre, everyone. The title of this one is Conscious Couples, right? This is one of the things I do. I do conscious masculinity, conscious fathers, conscious couples, and then I do conscious living. And so today is Conscious Couples. And I said, it's all good.
And the reason I said that actually is for two reasons. The first reason it's all good is that it's so easy to be negative in a relationship. It's so easy to kind of look at things that are going right, to look at what's wrong with our partner, to focus on the things that we don't like about them. It's so easy to get stuck in that. And so sometimes to just say, you know what? It's all good. It's all good. They're fine. I'm fine. I don't need a whole lot. I don't need. I certainly don't need to engage in scorekeeping.
I don't need to be picking her apart, picking him apart. There's no need for that kind of stuff. So in that respect, it's all good. It's healthy, right? Because it's like, hey, it's all good. These are little things. I don't need to make anything out of this. So that's the. That's the first one, but then I saw. You know, but there's another version of that. And the other version of it's all good is the easier thing for us to do as couples, and that's to shut out our partners in lots of different ways.
Hey, how you doing? It's all good. Especially guys, right? You know, there's a great. I love Scrubs. Scrubs is such a wonderful show, but it really kind of explores masculinity in such a powerful way. And one of the ones, Elliot, is dating this new guy, Jake. And Jake opens up, and he says, you know, I'm just not really good at expressing my feelings. He said, even though I'm a very emotional guy. And then he gives this express. He gives this example. He's like, why don't you tell me that it's gonna be, you know, nice out today?
And she says, okay, it's gonna be nice out today. He's like, oh, good. He said, now, why don't you tell me that my favorite dog from childhood just died. She said, oh, Buster died. He said, okay, cool. And that's the it's all good trap that so many, so many of us can fall into. And I. I have done it in different ways, and I'm in a particular situation right now where I'm doing some pretty deep therapy, and I can't afford to be saying it's all good to my wife. I need to let her know kind of what's going because it's pretty raw and it's pretty challenging, and it's very.
Can be overwhelming. So if I just say, hey, it's, you know, it's all good because I don't want to burden her. I mean, timing matters, of course. How I say it matters, of course. But also telling her the truth, she asked me, how are you doing? And I said, you know what? I'm pretty raw and feeling pretty emotional. Well, I was honest. And so that is also the core of healthy communication and a healthy relationship. And conscious couples, conscious couples make the effort to tell the truth without over sharing, without overdoing it, without putting a burden on their partner.
Those are the things that are amazing for us to be able to do. So that's the world of it's all good. I hope you could hear me, because I really don't know how this went, being at the beach, but that's it. So have a great weekend Cadre community.
