Everyone hears the benefits of drinking a cup of joe everyday. I’m here to share what I’ve found taking a pause on the daily coffee.
Hey, guys. Welcome back. My name is Alec Dewitts. I'm part of the Cadre team here. Welcome to my live stream.
Carrie Smell: A lot of us enjoy a cup of joe every morning. She says taking a break from coffee can have a number of benefits. Smell says there is a decrease in stress and lower anxiety. She wants to see how long she can go without coffee.
Carrie: Having a support system when you're going through something is really, really important. Carrie: I hope you guys can, can try something like this, this holiday season. Maybe take a break from something that you've felt you need to let go of.
Hey, guys. Welcome back. My name is Alec Dewitts. I'm part of the Cadre team here. Welcome to my live stream. Today, I want to talk about coffee and taking an actual coffee break. A lot of us, we enjoy a cup of joe every single morning, and we don't really think about what comes with that, the cost. Well, actually, first, let's. Let's start with the benefits, because everyone knows what the benefits are. You stay more focused. You wake up in the morning, it's the first thing everybody gravitates to is a cup of joe, cup of coffee.
Maybe you like to go to Starbucks. Maybe you like caribou. Here in Minnesota, we. We enjoy caribou coffee. You like a local coffee shop. You like the vibe, you like the smell of the beans in the morning. I sure do. There's a lot of benefits here. What else? What else? Your digestive system gets moving in the morning. It's a social thing. Everyone loves to go grab a cup of coffee and go chat for a little bit, too, but we don't really always realize what it's doing to our body. There's a lot of science out there that can.
That can back up our habits and our, you know, I hate to say it, but addiction to coffee. So I wanted to do a little test for myself and be able to see how long I could go without a cup of coffee. I've probably drank a cup every single day, maybe here or there, taking a day off, but for a couple of years, you know, every day, just a cup of coffee in the morning. I've noticed some significant benefits from taking this break, aside from. Of being hyper focused on something, from not being groggy in the morning, things like that.
That we enjoy a cup of coffee for. Some of the benefits that you see when you don't drink that cup of coffee is actually a decrease in stress. This is what I've seen, at least from my experience. I've seen less stress. I've seen lower anxiety, which is a really big one for me. I think those two kind of go together. Sometimes when I'm drinking my coffee, I enjoy the stress. I think a lot of us enjoy stress as much as we don't really know it, but I think we're always trying to do that next thing, keep ourselves busy.
I think sometimes, like, that cup of coffee allows us to enjoy a little bit more stress throughout the day, even though we're trying to cut back on the stress. But I've noticed less stress, less anxiety. My body temperature feels a lot cooler. I don't get as hot as easily, which has been a huge benefit. I just tend to run hot sometimes, and that can. Sometimes I don't really know. I don't know what that can do. But I do enjoy just feeling baseline. And the first couple days off of taking a break of coffee, I noticed a little bit of irritability.
And it was easy for me to get angry at something or something to kind of tick me off a little bit. But after those first couple days, maybe a little bit of headaches, too. But I was drinking a lot of water, staying hydrated. So that kind of subsided pretty quickly. But just after a few days, I kind of reached this level of I don't need that stuff. That stuff isn't required for me to have a great day. As much as I love a cup of coffee, I want to see how long I can go with this. And I encourage you to try it out, too.
I do like supplements, so I take some supplements to help wake me up in the morning, take vitamin C, vitamin D, a little bit of fish oil, things like that. But besides that, I feel very baseline and I feel like I'm my true self by not having that cup every single morning. It's almost like the cup of coffee kind of led me to my work and got me to go focus on work right away. Instead of enjoying the morning, enjoying the process, waking up naturally, elevating my cortisol levels naturally by themselves.
So that's a little bit about my experience. I'm seeing a few people in the chat here. Jander swag. Welcome. Carrie. Smell and digestion are the key benefits for me. That's great. I know some people can walk into a coffee shop and they can just smell the coffee and they don't even need a cup of coffee. And I'm hoping I can get to that point. Katie. Wow. Chris, I'm buying your next coffee at Nina's. All right, maybe in a month or so. Katie. Carrie, how do you, how do you get over the withdrawal period?
So I didn't notice a lot of withdrawals. The only thing that I noticed right away was a little bit of the irritability. Like I mentioned, I just kind of kept pushing through. Having a support system when you're going through something, when you're trying to overcome something is really, really important. Keeping some, having somebody keep, keep you accountable for what you say you're about to do. So I've got my friends, I've got the team members here, Cadre helping me through this. That would be how I got over my withdrawal period.
But, yeah, that's me taking a little coffee break. I've enjoyed it so far. I hope you guys can, can try something like this, this holiday season. Maybe take a break from something that you've felt that you've kind of been tied to a little bit too much and you need to let go of. But happy holidays, guys, and we'll see at the next one.
