Ever feel like an emotional sponge? Me too! Let's talk about it!
Christy Larson is hoping that this works. She has had some issues the past few weeks. She is hopeful that people show up today. She'll likely keep it short and sweet just in case it doesn't.
Cadre: I wanted to talk to you today a little bit about emotional sponges. For me, anyway, it really speaks volumes to how we as humans interact with one another. If you are an emotional sponge and somebody who soaks it all up, I really wanted you to know.
I'm just over here crossing my fingers. Hello, Cadre Sphere. I'm hoping that this works. I've had some, some issues the past few weeks and I know they're working so hard to get them fixed. So I'm just really hopeful that this is gonna work and that you all can see me and hear me. I know even on my end when I go on and do lives or listen to live streams from the other contributors, sometimes it's just completely blank. So I'm hopeful that you all can see and hear me. I'm hopeful that people show up today.
I know with all the hiccups that I've had, it's hard to, to know if I'm actually going to be here or not, but I am here. Christy Larson, Excited to be here. I always get a little twinge of excitement when I know that it's Wednesday and that I get to, to hang out with you all. It's a community that I really care deeply about. So I'm happy to be here and I'm hopeful that this all works out. I'll keep my, my fingers crossed and likely keep it short and sweet just in case it doesn't. I know I talk to myself all day long, but this is a little bit different of a feel.
So I wanted to talk to you today a little bit about emotional sponges. And I don't know if anybody else in this Cadre sphere relates to kind of what I'm going to talk about, but it is certainly something that I relate to very heavily and I am. You can tell me if you ever feel like you're kind of listening and kind of soaking everything in that other people are feeling. And sometimes it's hard to, for me anyway, to kind of like, you know, emotionally give that back. I am not an out, outward emotional person.
I, I really am somebody who for some reason keeps most of my, my emotions, besides kind of my flashy, excited emotions, out, out of out, kind of inside. Right? So keep those emotions inside. And so when people are talking to me, I'm, I'm, you know, if they're feeling sad, I'm listening and I'm trying to soak that in. And, and I feel sad. Right? But sometimes that just doesn't come out through tears or any outward signs that that is a thing that I'm experiencing with them. And so I was actually, I referenced this talk a lot, but there's a TED Talk out there by a gal named Vanessa Van Edwards, and she is the founder of Science of People.
So she does a Lot of people research, but she's got a TED Talk out there, and it sounds terrible, but it's called you are contagious. And it's around catching emotions, catching things verbally, non. Verbally and emotionally. And she has some really cool experiments that she's done kind of in that space and the science behind all of it. But it is really incredibly. For me, anyway, it really speaks volumes to how we as humans interact with one another. And so I'm thinking about it in terms of, you know.
You know, when you're talking to a friend and they're really excited because they just went on this really great trip and they want to tell you all about it, and you get really excited because they're so excited. Or maybe you're talking to somebody who is a little bit down in the dumps, and they're coming on to, you know, share a story of something that happened to them that wasn't good or something similar to that. Right? And then you catch that and you really feel that emotion with them. And that happens a lot.
That happens to a lot of people. I think we. That's how we interact as humans. Right? And so it's. It's hard for some people to express those outwardly, but sometimes when you do that, it really creates safe and a safe space for other people. So I usually try to soak that all in. And then when I need a good squeeze, when I need some of that to. To kind of drain out or come out, I'll. I'll sit in a quiet space and reflect. Sometimes I journal. Sometimes I speak to the greater power. Right. And really try to release those emotions in a way that it works for me, and that's different for everyone.
Right? And so I really wanted to share that today because I want. If you are an emotional sponge and somebody who soaks it all up, I really wanted you to know I am too. Right? And it's okay. It's okay to be that way. So I'm gonna. I'm gonna stop there because I have no idea if this is recording or not and. Or streaming or not. And so I'm hopeful that it is, but I don't want to ramble too much if it is not. So if it's not, I will be on with a short video of me rambling in video format instead of streaming for format.
Take care, Cadresphere. Be well and give it a good squeeze today. Hope you all have a fantastic afternoon. Enjoy.
