A gentle reminder that presence matters more than perfection—and showing up as you are creates real connection.

Jessica: I wanted to focus on our ability to show up as the person that we are. It means us showing up when we're tired. People don't connect to perfection, they connect to you being your authentic self.
Good morning, Cadre world. It is Dr. Jessica Green and as you can tell, it is still cold, this weather is still cold, and trying to wrap up and making sure we are taking, managing and taking care of ourselves in regards to self care. So as we wait on some others to come in, some of those of you who are joining us for the first time. I am Dr. Jessica Green and I am a licensed therapist in multiple states. I am a CEU provider and also a supervisor for lpca. So those counselors who are new in the profession, you know, who welcome them with open arms to make sure they get their two years under their belt so they can practice independently or within a company organization.
And again, as we're waiting for some others to come in today, I wanted to focus on our ability to show up as the person that we are. You know, making sure that we continue to be our authentic self. And with today's reminder, and it's pretty simple, you don't have to be the best version in order to be worthy of showing up. And for some of us, we talk about that pressure between being a parent, being a caregiver, you know, being a colleague. And so many of us feel like we have to fix ourselves before we can be seen.
And what I want to share with you is, is the importance of whenever we are not ourselves and we are not at our best, that we continue to be human and have that human mystic perspective and increase that intrinsic motivation. So what does that mean, Jessica? What are you talking about? What does that mean? It means us showing up when we're tired. You know, we do not quit those moments where we may be distracted or even feel heavy emotionally. We still choose to be present even without the energy to perform.
So what I want you to remember is showing up, you know, didn't look, you know, as being confident. It looked like you were being honest with yourself and telling yourself, hey, I am exhausted, I am tired. I. But I'm going to make myself aware and acknowledge it and not ignore it. So how can we reframe that? You know, when we think about the presence over performance in that belief. So people don't connect to perfection, they connect to you being your authentic self. That ability where you are having that sense of belonging as opposed to that sense of fitting in, it is focused on polishing your ability to be present and hide it.
So what does that look like? You know, you don't need the right words. We just need that willingness. We don't need that high energy. We just need that moment to be honest with ourselves. So when we think about that sense of belonging. Remember we talked about that sense of belonging as opposed to that sense of fitting in. Belong, auditioning. And you start arriving because you know where we're holding ourselves back. Are we being authentic? Are we holding ourselves back because we may see vulnerability as a negative?
Exactly how you are to be my authentic self. But then the most wonderful day and look forward to.
