The win is on the way — but focusing too much on when it will happen can steal your peace. In this livestream, we’ll talk about choosing where your energy goes, protecting your mental wellness, and staying grounded in personal growth while trusting the process.
Dr. Jessica Green: Don't let the wind when distract you. She talks about mental wellness and that personal growth. Green: A lot of times we focus on that w I n instead of us focusing on that intrinsic motivation and what we have within.
Instead of us focusing on the when, that's helplessness, we're able to use those coping skills. We need to start that countdown when we have that sense of fatigue, that frustration. Sometimes that delay is preparing you for bigger and better things.
So today I want you to ask yourself and consider one grounding, one grinding question. What deserves your energy right now, right now? Peace deserves energy, progress deserves energy and rest deserves energy. But we cannot allow the win that timeline distract us. It's going to happen whenever you are ready.
Good morning, Cadre world. This is Dr. Jessica Green. And yes, generally at 10:30, I am live on Wednesdays, the last couple of weeks, as you all come in, are coming in, I'm going to share this story. And Josh, good morning. For some of you who join, I had surgery a month ago, but then end up getting the flu. So this morning I scheduled my live. You know, the wind is coming. Don't let the wind when distract you. And then I looked at the time, I entered the time of 10:30pm as opposed to 10:30am so here I am, ready to go for my live, and I'm like, why can't I log in?
Every time I log in, it says schedule. I logged out, I updated the app, came back in, same thing. So my brain, I'm thinking, you know, what is going on and why can I not come onto this live? And then I noticed I put 10:30pm as opposed to 10:30am so, Josh, thank you so much for continuing to stay logged in. We're gonna wait on some others to come in. And when I was thinking about, okay, what am I going to talk about today? When we talk about mental wellness and that personal growth? And it came to mind, you know, hey, a lot of times we focus on that w I n, you know, we focus on that win.
And when it doesn't happen, we get discouraged, we get frustrated, we get annoyed. Good morning. But I want us to revamp that, you know, especially as we're going into a new year and reminding ourselves on a daily basis that the wind is coming, the w I n it's coming, but the when, that timeline can become a distraction, especially when we're comparing ourselves to other people instead of us focusing on that intrinsic motivation and what we have within. So before we get started, as we have some others coming in, just to give you a little tidbit about me, and I know you hear the vacuum cleaner and it should stop shortly, but there we go.
There's magic. But this morning has been a busy morning for me. Between meetings, going into other meetings, but I wanted to make sure I took that opportunity to make sure I can stop what I'm doing and come on and talk about the importance of mental wellness and that win. So a lot of times we ask ourselves, why hasn't this happened yet? What am I doing wrong and did I miss this moment? And the message that I want us to hear is that instead of us focusing on the when, that's helplessness, we're able to use those coping skills.
And Mel Robbins, she has A great example that she utilizes. She talks about astronauts, right? And you have that countdown, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. And they know when that countdown starts. There no point of return. When that countdown starts, you better be ready to take off. And that's what we need to do for ourselves. We need to start that countdown when we have that sense of fatigue, that frustration. And know when we start that countdown, we have to get up and we have to get moving. And the last is making the right decision, not the perfect one.
And a lot of times when we use that P word, that sense of perfection, there is no sense of perfection. A lot of times things just happen and they just happen to work out for us, but there is not that sense of perfection. So when we think about growth, growth doesn't require that sense of urgency. It requires us being present. Present. So when we think about that season and that normalization, normalizing the waiting season. So whenever we're in that waiting game and we're in that waiting season, it will definitely mess with our confidence and they even make us question ourselves.
Am I in the right career field? You know, my college students, Am I in that right college major? You know, is this what I want to do? But here's a refrain that I want you to hold on to. The weight is not wasted. Sometimes that delay where we may want that instant gratification, that delay is protecting you. And sometimes that weight is preparing you for bigger and better things. Things. You know, sometimes there are things that we don't see that other people see. And that does not mean, hey, others are trying to dim our light.
But it's that moment where they are preparing us for something bigger and better. And then sometimes it's the aligning and the aligning of things again that we cannot see yet. Because sometimes when that wind comes too early, it might cost us more than it is giving us. So remember, when we focus on that, when reminding ourselves that it may be delayed, but it is not denied. So today I want you to ask yourself and consider one grounding, one grinding question. What deserves your energy right now, right now, in this moment, not next year, not after everything works out, but right now.
Because when we think about your progress and when we think about those grounding skills and those takeaways, peace deserves energy. Progress deserves energy. And rest deserves energy, peace, progress and rest. And sometimes we obsess over those timelines. And when we do that, are we making progress? No, we're not. We are being standstilled in that moment. So an affirmation that I want you to Write down on sticky notes, put it in the bathroom mirror, put it in your car, and put it someplace that you see it every day.
All right, I want us to realize the wind is coming, but we do not have to rush it, we don't have to force it. It's going to happen when that time is right. We have to make sure we stay aligned, we have to make sure we stay intention and make sure we are protecting our energy. Because what we cannot do is let the wind, that timeline, distract you from who you are becoming along the way. So I want you to think about today. Whenever you, you know, get off this, live, this is something want you to think about where do you need to stop watching the clock and start trusting the process.
What gets your energy this week? Is it that sense of the peace or is it that sense of pressure? What gets your energy this week? Is it that sense of peace or is it that sense of pressure? So if we don't take away anything else from today, make sure you recognize that the wind is coming. But we cannot allow the win that timeline distract us. And it's going to happen whenever you are ready. And the important thing is that we continue to stay armored up because when it comes, we need to be ready. So we're gonna stop asking ourselves, why hasn't this happened yet?
What am I doing wrong? Did I miss this moment? No, you did not. But you definitely need to stay armor up because when it happens and you are walking through, we're going to take every moment of that and remind ourselves we were waiting and we were built for a time like this. Thank you for listening and I hope to see you next Wednesday as we continue to focus on personal growth and mental wellness.
