One of the biggest lessons I’m learning as both a caregiver and a professional is that pace matters. For years, I operated at full throttle. In work. In parenting. In life. Slowing down felt like falling behind. This morning reminded me that slowing down can actually create more sustainability. A calmer start. Better regulation. Space to notice what’s working instead of rushing past it. Especially during heavy seasons, conserving energy isn’t avoidance. It’s strategy. Progress doesn’t always come from doing more. Sometimes it comes from doing things differently. Where could you slow down just a little this week?
This week, where's one place you could maybe slow down just a little bit? Tap into your people in real life or online, wherever you can find them, and let them share the load. Meeting support right now doesn't mean you're a burden. It makes you human.
How can we conserve our energy during these really difficult times? Now, for me, that's meant giving myself time to slow down, because I've spent years running at full throttle in my career as a parent, all of it. And honestly, it's such a reflex that my body still thinks that everything is a fire drill. This morning was different, because instead of rushing my kid straight into the shower and out the door, I just sat with him while he woke up. So there was a few tickles, a vibe check for both of us, and we eased into whatever today needed to be.
It felt slower and surprisingly better because I didn't know I could do that. There were giggles, smiles, tiny moments of joy that reminded me, oh, yeah, this is why we're doing all of this. And I know that those moments might feel really hard to find right now. So if you can catch one, grab onto it, protect it, let it do a little emotional heavy lifting for you right now. And please don't do this alone. Tap into your people in real life or online, wherever you can find them, and let them share the load.
Because meeting support right now doesn't mean you're a burden. It makes you human. So some days look like action, and some days it looks like slowing down, and both of those things count. So this week, where's one place you could maybe slow down just a little bit?
