The ultimate game changer….writing them all down, DAILY!
Luke Wendtlandt takes this from his favorite coffee shop, a little local Starbucks and the Kowalskis right by White Bear Lakes. Happy Monday. Almost soon to be 2026 to you and yours.
The odds of you having a resolution last till February is like 6%. It's like you have a 94% failure chance if you write down a resolution that'll even stick until February. So that's like goal setting 101, like, flip a bit happening.
Mike's 2026 goals: Never miss any kids stuff, walk and run around the state of Minnesota. See my parents and in laws as much as humanly possible. Write down specific goals with each one of these.
Luke IO: Every day I wake up and I know exactly what I'm going to do. What are you going to commit to this year? How are yougoing to change the game for your goals? If this is too complicated and difficult, let me help you break it down and make it simple.
With that being said, it's go time. We got 2026 coming up. There's goals and goals are non negotiables for me. So I encourage you to think about the goals in your life and what's important. Have an amazing 2026.
Good morning, everybody. Good morning. Happy Monday. Hopefully this life is starting off to a great day on a Monday. Welcome, everybody here. Thanks for joining again, my name is Luke Wendtland, taking this from my favorite coffee shop, a little local Starbucks and the Kowalskis right by White Bear Lakes. So happy Monday. Almost soon to be 2026 to you and yours. Good morning. Good morning, everybody. Thank you for joining again. My name is Luke Wendtlandt. I've been at Cadre since day one. I love that you're all here.
Thanks for joining in with this with me. Want to go over goals, goals, goals. So one thing that I just want to talk about is in about 2018, 2019, I kind of moved from the idea of resolutions to goals, right? So I moved from this idea of resolutions to goals. And what I transitioned to was I heard this podcast where they said, you know, the odds of you having a resolution last till February is like 6%. So it's like you have a 94% failure chance if you write down a resolution that'll even stick until February.
So I was like, okay, if that's true, well, what can I do to change the game? So I started doing some research and just talking about goals, goals, goals. Like goals, goals, goals. So I read books on goals, learned more about goals, learned more about, like, how this can change the name of the game for you, et cetera. So what I found was it's basically like, resolution is stating this idea. Resolution is stating this idea of, you know, I have this resolution and, you know, come February 1st, it's gonna hold or it'll stick.
The odds are very low like we just discussed and we talked about. So that's like goal setting 101, like, flip a bit happening. So. And then, so my 2026 goals, I just wanna share with everybody. Okay? So number one, never miss any kids stuff. Number two, at Cadre, we always talk about we out care and we out love. That's for the clients that we get the privilege to teammates here at Cadre, the partners that we support and their staff. Number three is over the last six years, I've ran 45 miles on my birthday.
And I will continue that trend. So I'll continue to run 45 miles. That'll be on May 27th, for my 45th birthday. I'm gonna take two vacations just with them, walk and run around the state of Minnesota. It's 1600 miles, and our goal is raise $1 million. Another trip with my boy Jason Lennox, who's on Cadre. And then I want to see my parents and in laws as much as humanly possible. So again, what I wanted to share. What I wanted to share. Good morning, everybody. Good morning, Smzobitz. Good morning, Mike.
Good morning. One percent better. Good morning. Speak wonder. Good morning, M. Mike. Good morning. Good morning. What I wanted to share is I write down my goals. You can see there's a little bit of professional, there's a little bit of me personal and there's a little bit of others involved in this because that's what gives me the juice. But so again, goals, goals, goals. And then so what I'll do every day, so what I'll do every day here is on the next day I'll write down specific goals with each one of these, right?
So it's like If I have 45 miles on May 27, I'm going to write, for example, ran six miles on Saturday. Consistently ran a half marathon on my Sunday. Right? Cadre out. Care out. Love. These are the things that we do all the time, like growth in the. Growth with the platform, growth with the people we work with, grow up with each other. Right. That's just another example. Never miss any kids stuff. So that's just a big circle of pie. Make sure I hit all those two vacations with M. I really wanted to take her to Finland.
So that's a goal that I have. So I'll write that one down a lot and then walk or run around the state of Minnesota. We are going to consistently now Starting in January, January15, our first meeting to discuss the tactics behind that. And then another trip with Lennox. We already discussed like driving out west. Driving out west, heading from Montana out to Seattle, Washington, Portland, and then working our way around that way. And then see my parents and my in laws more. My. You guys have heard me talk about my father in law before.
My father in law is the happiest that I've ever met in the world that ever lives in a nursing home. He is just brilliantly positive and he's still learning and reading so many books all the time. And I just like could take, if we all could take away from my father in law to be able to live that life being quote unquote, what most people deem as miserable, bedridden in the nursing home. And he is just as happ. Happy as a clam. So I just wonder like how can we all take from him. And he brings me so much joy in talking with him and learning.
So I hope you can too. And then my parents, you know, my parents are. And we're in our 70s now, you know, and we're, when we're in our 70s, like take it, take a step back and think about this. 8 and you know, you're in your 70s and you have six Christmases left, 12 Christmases left, not, not talking like, you know, morbidly is fun, but you know, the reality is we need to put those things, you know, on the forefront of our brains to say, like, how can I spend more time, you know, with my parents or with my in laws and things that matter.
So I again, I want to push you to think about those people, those things, those place the professional aspect of your life that you love. And write it down. And write it down. Everybody talks about smart goals. If all that is too complicated for you, literally just write something down that you want to do. See Aunt Josie, right? I mean, I don't have Aunt Josie, but see Aunt Josie. What am I going to do? I'm going to call Aunt Josie, I'm going to text, text on Josie, I'm going to reach out on Josie, I'm going to set something up with on Josie.
But that could be a goal for you, right? If that's an example. Goals do not have to be these like ridiculous pushes of, you know, running marathons and doing all these things. Goals can be just something as simple as. I'd like to text two friends each day. I'd like to text two friends each day. Cool. And if you have to hold yourself accountable by printing off a calendar and marking the days, go for it. I remember back in college, this is all true. So back in college I had a calendar for the summer and it was May, June, July, August, until school had started again.
So I had this three months and in those three months I had run three miles. Don't drink, don't smoke. Because that was a time in my life where I was out at 19, 20 years old, out a lot with people. So if I did so if I ran my three miles, I could check it off. If I didn't smoke, I could check it off. And if I didn't drink, I could box the whole day. And what I found was by boxing that whole day and blacking it out, it gave me a lot of juice and it gave me a lot of juice to try to do it the next day and the next day and the next day and the next day.
That summer I was crushing miles at 19, 20 years old. But again, these are just the little things that you gotta figure out what works for you and what's gonna give you juice to keep going with your goals. Last but not least is there's this calendar. It's called the big a** calendar. The big a** calendar. And you can buy that online. I think it's like 99 buc or something. And it's something that we have at our house and it's a huge calendar, like a big wall sized calendar. I would encourage you, if you struggle with your goals and you struggle with keeping track of everything to write it down accordingly and work it on your big a** calendar.
So those are some things that I encourage you to do to try with your goals again. For me, I'm speaking into existence so you guys can all hear them. Number one, I'm not going to miss kids stuff. Number two, at Cadre, we're gonna out care and we're gonna love for everybody that we get the privilege to work with. That's our teammates, that's our clients, that's our partners, that's our staff, that's everybody. Number three, I will run 45 miles on May 27th. That's my 45th birthday. I'm gonna take two vacations with M.
Just Em, that's my wife. I'm gonna walk around the state of Minnesota starting in August hoping $1 million. That's 1600 miles. So I can't wait. And I'm going to take another trip with my, my best, one of my best friends at Jason Lennox and then I'm going to see my parents, my in laws more. What are you going to commit to this year? How are you going to change the game for your goals? What are you going to do to live purposeful, intentional life like again, I mean this most loving way. Guys, every day I wake up and I know ex I'm going to do.
Every day I wake up and I know exactly what I'm going to do. I'm going to go after my goals. I know exactly what my Monday is going to look like, what my Tuesday is going to look like, what, what I'm going to go after next year? Like I know what I'm doing and my question to you is, do you, do you wake up on Monday, know exactly what you're going to do not only for yourself but for others and or your work? Do you know exactly what you're going to do? And if you don't, I would encourage you to think about that and find ways in which goals can drive you to be able to feel that way.
So with that, that's how I break down my goals. I've been doing this for years. Like years. If this is hard for you, I would be more than happy to help and so just email me Luke IO. Lukedre IO I can help you set up your goals. If this is too complicated and difficult, let me help you break it down and make it simple for you. So just send me an email. I'll be more than happy to help. With that being said, it's go time. We got 2026 coming up. There's no resolutions in my life. That's that ship has sailed.
I've burned that boat. But there's goals and goals are non negotiables for me. You know, I'm going to break myself off to get that's just who I am. I am going to make this happen, you know, h*** or high water. So I encourage you to think about the goals in your life and what's important and what's meaningful and go make it happen. You guys take care. Have an amazing day. Thanks for showing up. Andy Mack. Oh, Andy Mack's joined. I love Andy Mac Smzobs, you're the best. Mike. Ridiculous. I love it.
