It’s probably more real than you know. And it has nothing to do with alcohol - unless it does. Everyone deserves an opportunity to recover from the holidays.
Kydrasphere is focused on conscious living and the idea of the post holiday hangover. First, you gotta notice the hangover, he says. Second, give yourself permission to acknowledge the fact that you're feeling hungover.
Happy holidays to everybody. Excited for Cadre this coming year and everything we're gonna be doing. And all my fellow contributors Jen and Speak Wonder are here day holding it down, visiting. I hope everybody has incredibly wonderful weekend for the rest of the time and take care.
Alrighty. Well, well, well. Welcome back to kydrasphere. It is a little after the holidays, heading to the new year, to 2026. And today's little chit chat is focused on conscious living, right? Because that's what we focus on on fourth Saturday. But in addition to conscious living, right, it's this idea of the post holiday hangover. Now first off, some people, they might be having the post holiday hangover, like hangover, you know what I'm saying? Like a lot of us used to have, right? So that hangover that is not fun, right?
That's the hangover that comes when you realize you just spent from a little bit before Thanksgiving until now and probably are still going to be spending some more time as you move into New Year's. But we aren't necessarily paying attention. We're not aware of it, right when it's happening. And so it builds and it builds and there's the expectations we put on ourselves and women especially, right? Because women have these, these particular expectations not only that they put on themselves, right, that they've interjected from our society, but soc he puts on them, oh, that you're expected to do this and that for the holidays and to show up and to take care of everybody and to have amazing meals and to make people happy and to do all this stuff.
That's a lot. As men, we have our own expectations, we have our own stuff that we put on ourselves. And then those of us men who are really trying to show up differently than traditional male roles, right, Then we like, we want to be partners, we want to want to show up, we want to do this stuff. And then whatever it is, right? So you have like, you have the expectations from gender conditioning that we take on. So you have that, then you have the mixed messages, right? Because the holidays, oh, wonderful.
And it's family and it's loving and it's kind and it's togetherness and then it's mass commercialism, greed, scarcity and a lot of like, stuff, right? Not to mention stuff from the past, right? So all of that stuff is churning inside of us while we're trying to smile our way through it, it and make everybody happy. The bottom line is it would make a lot of sense if some people are feeling a little hungover right now. And so the key that I'm learning, that I've learned, but still learning is like to take care of ourselves, to like give ourselves a break.
For me, I play my guitar a little bit, I go for a walk with my do by myself, right? I Get to an extra meeting, right? Call some people and see how they're doing outside of my family circle. You know, give it a little extra rest. Watch a meaningless, stupid movie. A lot of it, like, by myself. That's what helps for me personally, to heal the hangover. First, you gotta notice the hangover. Second, you gotta give yourself permission to acknowledge the fact that you're feeling hungover like that, hey, this was a lot.
Because your body is telling you already that it's a lot. Your body is saying, hey, hey, right? Like it's not. And that's the body. As we say, the body keeps the score. The body is telling us. Not that it's a lot necessarily, from what just happened. It's a lot from the stuff that's still coming up, the stuff that's still kind of bubbling up from the past that we haven't healed. Like, I thank God for a part that I can walk into the bedroom with and I can say, hey, I just want to vent. And I vent.
And I might be venting to her about her. I might be venting to her about what's happening. I might be venting to her about somebody else. Mostly it's about somebody else. Sometimes it's about her. Sometimes it's just about, like, the situation. But that helps me in the ongoing process so that the hangover that I feel isn't too intense. If you're taking care of yourself the whole way through the hangover is not immense. But if you're not, if you're just going, going, going, burning at both ends, all these internal expectations with no awareness and just going and going, going, man, it can be roug the end when it's all said and done and it doesn't necessarily feel as fulfilling.
And it's like, what happened? What did I. You know? Because it doesn't fill you up necessarily a lot of the time if what you're looking for, right? If you have expectations about what these activities are going to give you. That's the thing for me, right? It's coming to realize, like, I can't make my mom happy, Can I make my wife happy, can't make my daughter happy. But I can be of service to all three of them, and I can kind of not worry about my happiness or them having to take care of me because I'm taking care of myself.
And then there's, like, no resentment. And that's the beautiful thing when it's free and clear of any expectation having gotten there completely yet. But I've done it much better than I ever have. And so as a result there's not a lot of hangover. Right? That's the beauty. I've been at the place where the, there's been tons of hangover. I've been at the place where the emotional hangover has been severe. These days it's like, you know what? I've been chilling since Thanksgiving as far as overdoing it as far as being of service without sacrificing my self care, right.
And just having that consciousness this whole way through. So my suggestion, my my thoughts would be like really, really prioritize self care and it doesn't have to be a big deal. Can be the littlest things and if you don't have a partner, you got somebo in your life that you can vent to that you can reach out to, that you connect with. It's going to make just a little bit of a difference for you not carrying this stuff alone and feeling as though like it's there, it's affecting you and like you don't have anywhere to go with it.
That's the gift of recovery. That's the gift of the conscious life, right. Is that we always have somewhere to go with the stuff that might be carrying holding us down a little bit. So those are my thoughts. Happy holidays to everybody. Wishing you a really wonderful new year. Excited for Cadre this coming year and everything we're gonna be doing. And all my fellow contributors Jen and Speak Wonder are here day holding it down, visiting and I hope everybody has incredibly wonderful weekend for the rest of the time and take care.
Bye bye.
