Cadre: Have an opinion, a musical opinion or artistic opinion. This group has rules of engagement. I expect them to walk out of the room knowing something they did not know before. Leadership is about making things that already are better.
That's my invitation for you today. Whether this is a busy week or a light week, I hope you walk out of the end of this day with a little extra information. We'll see you tomorrow. Have a good one.
Good morning, Cadre. How are we doing today? A little Tom Petty to play us in. I love Tom Petty's phrasings. There's just something fun about musicians who, as we like to say, have a musical opinion. Here's something. If you ever want to be a musician or if you ever want to be an artist, here's step one. Have an opinion, a musical opinion or artistic opinion. What does that mean? It's, you know, if someone's going to sing something like started out like, if you're going to sing those two words, sing it in a way that makes sense to you.
And if someone goes, well, why you sing it that way it be something brand new. Or whether you be 91 years old and doing something that you've been doing your whole life. I am the. The music director of a group of older individuals who sing rock music. They sing rock music in order to kind of flip the script on what are you supposed to do when you get older. So if you walked into a room and you heard bunch of 45 people, average age 77, and they're singing Blow by Kesha, or they're singing Living on the Edge by Aerosmith, and you go, what.
What's happening here? They are doing what they do. They are sharing their craft, their art and their message that regardless of your age, you have the opportunity to go ahead and impact people with your message, with your opinion. So we have rules of engagement, just like Betsy Hodges shares on on Wednesdays. By golly, is it Wednesday? No, today's Tuesday. So if Betsy is jumping in. No, actually Betsy is on Tuesdays. So maybe we'll be seeing Betsy later on today with the little rules of engagement.
Anyways, alive and kicking. This group has rules of engagement. We added one yesterday and it those three words that are in the title of this live stream, expect to learn every single day. I expect them to walk out of the room knowing something they did not know before. Why? Because if we're doing things that truly are. From a space of. Of. Of. Of leadership, right? Leadership creating things that don't exist yet. Management about making things that already are better. Leadership, making something new exists.
That's how I define those two words for really walk me to the space. When we're leading a mission, a movement in this world, if you have the mindset, it's like, well, I already know everything I'm going to know. I already have all the tools I'm going to have. I'm never going to pick up something different. I'm never going to see anything in a different way. It's a really inefficient way to attempt to lead and bring something new into this world. But I think sometimes we are taught that once you get older than you were yesterday, it is time to stop learning.
It's time to start knowing. Rather than being the one who is in the room learning, you need to be the one in the room with the answer. And I go, my favorite answer is, you know, I don't know. Or, yeah, I don't know. Does anybody else have any ideas? Or, hey, let's figure that out. Or I've never thought about that before. These are all really good prompts that then open me up to gaining information I did not have one moment before. That's my invitation for you today. Whether this is a busy week or a light week, whether you're walking in with a full tank of energy or whether you're exhausted to the kazoos, I hope you walk out of the end of this day with a little extra information, a little extra skill, a little extra question that you did not know before.
As you cross the hill and the town lit up the world got Still I'm learning to fly But I ain't got wings Coming down is the hardest thing While the good old days may not return and the rocks might melt and the sea may burn and I'm learning to fly that's Tom Petty's invitation for you today, and mine, too. We'll see you tomorrow. Have a good one. Bye, y'. All. Have a good one. Saint.
