Good morning, Cadre community. My name is Jean Mitchells. I'm happy to be here filling in for JC With a little Cadre today. So I'm just going to give everybody a few seconds to pop on in here, say hello, say good morning. And if I were as cool as Luke and jc, I would have music playing in the background. But I just got done teaching a spin class, and so I had to pop in quickly from the closest room I could get to that didn't have a ton of noise. Good morning. Good morning. Happy Wednesday. Hi, Shannon.
Happy Wednesday. It's nice to be here. So I see everybody so early. Good morning. Good morning. Hello, Steph. Like, I could sing, but I don't think we want that. I did just get done doing a spin class where I did a Missy Elliott and Rihanna ride. And those are two of my favorite artists. Ah, banging, banging. C. sending him some. I'm going to share a quick feeling community, feeling connected in our spin studio. I have a teacher that takes my classes on Wednesday mornings with me, and her school is a STEM school in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.
And these kids, a lot of these kids, they've traveled here. They. They don't always have the financial means. And I was talking to her the other day, and she was telling me how these sixth and eighth graders don't always have warm clothes. And I was like, okay, cool, we're going to do a clothing drive. I had no plan. I just had our marketing person put it up on social media. I posted on social media and I told people they could bring their gently used or new clothes, winter clothes, jackets, scarves, socks, mittens, sweatshirt, sweatpants, that they could bring it to the studio and we would give them to these kids.
But if people didn't have time to go through their closets or maybe go shopping, they could Venmo me money and I'd go shopping for them. And all of a sudden, I forgot that I had done this. But my Venmo started blowing up. And all of a sudden, I had all these people sending me donations, and I literally went to Costco and I bought sweatshirts and hoodies and jackets and all these cool things. And so today, these kids are so excited that they get to go shop for some new winter gear. And that's what community does, right?
When we use their voice to ask for what we need, community comes together. They surround us. And so it's one of the many things that I love about our Cadre family, is that when you tell us your stories and you share with us what you need. We have a community of contributors that listen and they respond. But we don't just prescribe something to you. We offer ideas and insights and advice based on our lived experiences. And it's so wonderful when we can find a community where we can show up from wherever we are.
We can type in the chat, we can just listen if we just need to hear our message. But no matter what happens, we're not alone. And that's what community does. We come together with a common set of values or needs, our connections, and we bring our whole selves there. And because we have the opportunity to use our voice to share something, then we can create something together. And I'll speak from personal experience. Experience. But I also believe this to be true for almost all of the contributors, or probably all of them.
While you may feel as if we're sharing things that are helping you in that moment, that might be true. I guarantee you, from my perspective as well, that what I receive from that conversation and being able to put voice to those ideas is something that helps me heal too and helps all of us heal together. So community really is what we're about. And I'm so grateful to kick start today, kickstart this Wednesday. Next up is going to be Rosie. Go listen, go check it out. There's so many beautiful stories that are coming your way today.
Three for sure. So check the schedule, go to check them out, add them to your schedule, pop in or listen when you can. But simply remember that one of the most beautiful things about our Cadre family is that we are community and we lift each other up together. We work through the hard things together and we use our voices so that we can share and receive and be open. So I hope you all have a great day. Been awesome to pop in here for JC and I hope you. I'll see you guys all soon. And enjoy the rest of your Wednesday.
