Slowing down as a parent or caregiver feels impossible most days… but sometimes all you get is a moment. And that moment still counts. A deep breath. A quiet pause. A reminder that you’re human too. How are you slowing down today (even if it’s only for 10 seconds)? 💛 #ComedyThroughTheChaos #RestIsProductive #CaregiverLife #AutismParenting
Slowing down as a parent, especially a caregiver, feels impossible most days. Rest doesn't have to be a weekend away or a spa day. Some days it's mini rest. And hey, some days, that day is more than enough.
Slowing down as a parent, especially a caregiver, feels impossible most days because our kids don't care that the calendar says, hey, it's the season of rest. They're on their own timeline, their own clock, and sometimes their own planet. But here's what I've learned. You don't have to slow down for the whole day, a whole week, or even a whole month. Just slow down for the moment that we're actually in. Take one breath before we react, maybe sit for 30 seconds before we chase the next task our brain swears is urgent, and let yourself enjoy that teeny flash of of joy or quiet when it does show up.
Because those moments are gold, and they vanish in a flash. Rest doesn't have to be a weekend away or a spa day that you don't have the budget or childcare for. Some days it's mini rest. Some days it's one calm breath. And sometimes it's looking at your kid being happy and realizing you can unclench your shoulders for five seconds. And hey, some days, that day is more than enough.
