It's time to breathe. Replace criticism with understanding, for others and (most importantly) you.
Christy Larson is happy to have you all calling in from the office. She has a big event that she's planning for tomorrow. It's going to be held at US Bank Stadium where the Vikings play. We have one more week before Thanksgiving.
My talk today is Grace yourself. This is a time of year where we're often thinking about other people. And pausing to give yourself grace is something that we need to. In my opinion, this is one of those purposeful moments.
Hello, Cadre Sphere. Hello. Hello. Hi, welcome. I'm excited to be here with you. Come in, say hello. Where are you calling in from? Where are you joining me from? How you feeling today? Let's chit chat, let's hang. I'll give everybody just a minute to let us know you're here. Excited to see you all. I'm excited to be here. It's Wednesday, it's 12:30. I'm in my office. I have a big event that I'm planning for for tomorrow. So lots of the logistical, detailed things that need to happen before the big event, but I'm really excited about it.
It's going to be held at US Bank Stadium where the Vikings, the Minnesota Vikings professional football team plays. And we're going to be close to the field, so it's going to be really fun. I'm really excited. Really looking forward to it. Hello, Mafi. Hel. Speak, Wonder. Welcome, welcome, welcome. Happy to have you all calling in from the office. I'm Christy Larson. For those of you that haven't been here before. Excited to see you all. Excited to be here. Wednesday, 12:30. We have one more week, a little over a week before Thanksgiving.
And I'm really looking forward to that. I also know that this is a very, very busy time for a lot of people with the holidays coming up. It all kind of blends together and all of a sudden, before you know it, it's January and we're on to the next thing. So thanks so much for joining me. My talk today is Grace yourself. I think it's this time of year. It's definitely something we need to think about. This is a time of year where we're often thinking about other people. Right? You're thinking about what do people like to eat?
What do. Yay. Good speak, Wonder. We're twinsies. We're sharing the same brain, which is really of fun. But yes, grace is definitely something. Whenever I hear the word Grace, I don't know if anybody's seen that movie Christmas Vacation, but they want the aunt, I think she's the aunt to say Grace and, and she's talking about Grace who passed away years ago. And so whenever I hear that word, it always, it always gives me that, that pause, especially this time of year with the holidays around the corner.
But anyway, this is the time of year where we are always thinking about other people, right? We're thinking about what are we going to prepare for a meal for folks, what are we going to buy for gifts for folks, what are we going to, you know, how are we going to schedule time with folks? We're very, very, very busy. And this is the time of year where we often don't stop to think about ourselves. We're just constantly running around, planning things, making sure everybody's happy and has what they need.
My father in law was talking the other day about how they're having Thanksgiving. But, you know, one person hates stuffing and another person can't stand the cranberries. And somebody doesn't like turkey or whatever, that traditional holiday meal that they normally serve. They. They've always got complaints about it. So he's struggling to make sure everybody's happy, right? Everybody has what they need when they come to his table. And I think that happens at a lot of places. I think a lot of people go through that.
We're people pleasers, right? Especially if you're a people pleaser. You want to make sure everybody's happy and has what they need. And if they're coming, you have something that's not turkey or something that's different than cranber, right. For folks to eat. So it's really thinking about others a lot. And we give others a lot of grace, right? We think about that not just this time of year, but year round. We're constantly giving grace to other people and often saying, oh, it's okay, or I understand, but sometimes when those same things happen to us, we beat ourselves up or we don't really think about the grace we've extended, maybe in that same experience, that same emotion, that same situation that other people have been in.
So that's one thing that y' all have heard me talk about pausing with purpose before. And I think pausing, pausing to give yourself grace is something that you practice, that you really think about in the moment when it happens. And maybe you are beating yourself up for something or maybe something isn't going the way you want and you're, you know, emotionally upset at yourself or angry at yourself for something that happened. And I think pausing to give that grace is something that we need to. We need to recognize.
We need to take a step back and recognize that, you know, just yesterday, that same thing happened to my sibling, my brother, my aunt, whatever it might be, and I extended grace to them. So maybe it's something that I need to kind of look inward and do for myself. And I think often that's not something that we do. It's something that we just move past it, keep moving forward, maybe try to fix the situation or fix the emotion and pausing with purpose. This is one of those purposeful moments. In my opinion, this is the time where.
When you can stop and recognize it and say, you know, I need to slow down, I need to breathe, I need to step away. I need to stop. Not maybe just for you, but for those that are around you, right? Those that you're working with or playing with or studying with, they get that same. It's reciprocal, right. They're also like, oh, like they're pausing, they're taking a moment. They need to step back, they need to walk away. And that's okay. And even if they don't think it's okay, okay. It's okay for you, right?
It's okay for you to do that. And you have to recognize that and you have to understand that maybe sometimes that's something that you do that's real quick. Or maybe it's you do take, you know, go to a yoga class or do some, you know, time to meditation or something like that. That's going to give you that time to be able to reflect and give yourself that grace. I was. I can't remember where I saw this, but I was. I was somewhere and I read this and I wrote it down because it just stuck with me.
And it is. Harmony begins with tiny pauses, moments where you breathe, moments where you choose yourself. Harmony begins with tiny pauses, moments where you breathe, moments where you choose yourself. So let's take a few seconds right now, and you can take plenty more after we're done here today. But ask yourself what parts or part of you needs attention or needs that grace right now? Harmony begins with tiny pauses, moments where you breathe, moments where you choose yourself. What part of you needs attention or grace today?
What part of you needs to choose you today? Give yourself grace. Give others grace. Anila. I was watching Anila's live stream. I can't remember last week, early this week, I can't remember what it was, what's going on, but she reminded me of something she said she was talking about. Similar to the same thing it was about what would you do if someone was kicking you the back of your seat on an airplane? I don't know if you saw it, if you didn't see it. It's phenomenal. It's a great talk. She does a fantastic job of laying some things out.
But she said, think of people as another human just trying to get by. And I thought sometimes we need to think of ourselves as another human just trying to get by. Yeah, we can give grace to others. But remember that you're also another human just trying to get by. I think y' all are absolutely phenomenal. Take care, Cadre Sphere. Be well and grace yourself. See y'. All.
