Hello, Cadre. Happy November 1st here. The leaves are all sorts of different colors. Many of them are on the ground and it's a wonderful time of year. Welcome to everybody who's joining live and going to join live.
Craig Thelen talks about the 1% better mindset. How to accelerate your improvement journey. Where to start and how to start. There's lots of different options. Each person can find their own path.
The first and most important thing to having the mindset to get things done is you have to love yourself. What have you been doing to improve in the past week and what are you planning to do in the next week? Please share.
One of the possible paths to purpose is to pursue purpose. The third path that I would suggest is very simple one, which is start taking steps to improvement. I would love for you to share your thoughts and ideas on this idea of purpose.
Hello, Cadre. Happy Saturday. Happy November. November 1st here. And it's very much a November like start where I am, Minnesota. The leaves are all sorts of different colors. Many of them are on the ground and it's a wonderful time of year. Welcome cmercer900. Welcome to everybody who's joining live and going to join live. And if you join somewhere down the line, welcome as well. My name is Craig Thelen and this is the 1% better mindset. And I'm going to talk today about continuing what I was talking about earlier in the week.
Junk Food Junkie. Love it. Good afternoon. And that is about if you want to, let's say you want to really accelerate your improvement journey. I think we're all on improvement journeys. We're all living, we're learning every single day at our own pace in our own way. But let's just say that you, you say, hey, I'm really intrigued about this idea of 1% better. My potential is limitless. And there is ways to accelerate that and just improve, you know, at a faster rate, at a better rate, at a more aligned rate, closer to who you want to be and who you already are.
Then the topic is where to start and how to start. And I certainly don't believe in most cases that there is a one size fits all solution. So in most cases, I would say it's really going to be, there's lots of different options and each person can find their own path and will find their own path and there'll be things at work. In fact, I want to ask you all, what have you been doing to improve in the past week and what are you planning to do in the next week to just get the ideas flowing? So please share.
That's really a big part of this live stream is sharing ideas and what we're all doing. But let's just say that you want to really sort of step up your level of improvement. And the question is, well, where do I start? It's a great question. And the first thing I would say that perhaps sort of breaks my own rule that I think is a good general rule which is anchoring to purpose. I believe that regardless of where you are on the journey, it's something to think about and something to aspire to. And that is anchoring to a purpose.
So where it starts to sort of go down different paths from there is where are you in terms of knowing your purpose? And so I know there's some people out there that have a very clear purpose. In fact, they've written it down. They may speak about it, you may be able to recite it, and it's very clear. And if that's the case, that is awesome. And even if it is the case, I would also suggest that perhaps that's something that you revisit periodically. So myself, I revisit this idea of what my purpose is annually at the very least, and just say, hey, is it as clear as it was?
Can I sort of refine it, expand it? Have I learned something different about myself and about the world? So even if you do have it, which I completely applaud, anchor to it, use it, but also refine it, also revisit it and sort of check it. The Junk Food Junkie Sharing here. The first and most important thing to having the mindset to get things done is you have to love yourself. I love that. So that is. That could be a simple truth. I think it does open up many, many, many doors to improvement, is first loving yourself.
That is great. Thank you for sharing that. And that could be part of your purpose as well, how you think about love. But there's lots of sayings around that, how you feel and think about yourself as often, how you project yourself onto others. So people in pain, project pain. People that have a lot of love for themselves, project that. So thank you for sharing joy. Junk Food Junkie the second sort of path on your purpose would be to, if you don't have it, it's not crystal clear to go find it. And so there's a lot of different ways to do that.
I'm going to share a few. There's some great books out there. This is one find you'd beat by Tim Ingebraten. Tim's a great guy. He's a friend. He. He's been on my podcast. And how he found his purpose late in life is just a wonderful story and how he is now embracing it in his post career. And it's a wonderful story, and I think it gives a lot of clues to how we, all of us, can find purpose. That's a great one. There's this book, the Power of Purpose, which is by Mitch Larson. Again, another friend who's been on my podcast.
And what I love about this book is it's very practical, it's very simple. So if you, if you want sort of a structured yet simple way to sort of articulate, reflect who you are, why you're here, this is a wonderful book. It's. It's a. It's sort of a guide to walk you through that process. Very easy to leverage another One that I think is a really good tool is I don't have a book, but it's a website called the 100 Year Manifesto. And again, very sort of simple process to articulate just where you want your life to go and how you think about yourself and your purpose.
So that's a great resource. And if you need a little, need a little motivation when it comes to why I, you know, why purpose is important, the sense of urgency for it is this book called the Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. And it's very motivating. His life story and this lecture that he gave can really inspire all of us and any of us to sort of get our clarity and get our purpose perhaps before it's too late. Don't forget to post the book titles in the Cadre sphere. Thank you. Don't forget. Yes. I thought it said dog fight at some for a second, but don't forget, that's a great idea.
So those are some good resources. The third sort of path that I would suggest is very simple one, which is start where you are, start exactly where you are, you are who you are, and just start taking steps to improvement. One of the possible paths to purpose is to pursue purpose. And that could be your purpose in itself is to find your purpose, to find your true and authentic self, to find who you really are and why you're here. That is a wonderful purpose. And I think sometimes just the act of improvement, the act of reflection, the act of how can I get better in itself will expose some of that to you.
So those are a few different ideas. I would love for you to share your thoughts and ideas on this idea of purpose. And wherever you are on the journey, I can tell you that sort of the sky is the limit, there is no limit. Your potential is limitless. And the pursuit of purpose is a wonderful pursuit and journey. So hopefully that helps ideate a little bit. And I hope that you all have a great weekend and a great month of November. Take care.
