We need to prioritize ourselves during the holidays. Set boundaries for yourself. What is one thing that you can gift yourself this holiday season? Call your bestie.

Hello, Sunday. We got Major. Major, say hi. He says he's shy today. Are you bashful today, Major? He's feeling shy. Gene Mitchell's here with my trusted advisor, Major. My apologies for coming in later today, but I'm happy to be here. Hello, Seymour. Sir. 900, how are you today? As you come on into this stream today, my invitation to you is to take a breath. Let's shut the door here so it's a little less windy, a little less noisy. Hello, Mel Myers. How we doing today? My name is Jean Nicholls. I'm coming in hot on this beautiful Saturday.

Hi, Jules, how are you? Welcome, welcome. Excited to be here. Can you believe that it's only a few days away from Thanksgiving? Wha. Time is time, right? We're 14, 40 minutes in every day. There are 60 seconds in every minute. There's 24 hours in one day. Yet time seems to fly. Here's an interesting thing. Oh, thank you for asking. I am doing well. I taught a spin class this morning. I have three sound baths this afternoon. And Major and I just came back from a walk because it's a beautiful day.

Thank you for asking. So on this Sunday, where I usually like to have very unscheduled time, I have kind of a busy day, but I have a two and a half hour window of time where I just get to breathe and be in the moment. So today, this moment, I am grateful to be here, but also recognizing that time seems to go fast. So here's a fun fact. When you are learning something, like literally learning something brand new, time can feel different. So when we're learning something new, if it's something we're excited about, we're energized by time can feel very much in this moment, very present.

All of a sudden an hour can be gone and you're like, oh, I'm here, I'm right now. If it's something that you're not excited about, time can feel very slow. So it's funny how time can feel like Laffy Taffy or Silly Putty. It can feel like, oh, it's just right here in my hand. It can feel stretched. It can feel really long. It can feel broken. Time can feel all different things. But facts tell US There are 1400 minutes in every day. There are 60 seconds in every minute. There are 24 hours in a day.

There's 60 minutes in an hour, right? So time is constant. But how we perceive time changes. So right now, today, depending on where you're at, but when we're learning something new, that's the difference. So time can feel really fast for us because our brain has created superhighways and things don't seem hard anymore, right? We don't have that same struggle to learn because we're learning something new. We're creating a new pathway in our brain so we can just coast through the day. We can wake up in the morning, we can brush our teeth.

We can do all the things. We can go to work. It might not feel new. It might feel the same. Unless you start a new job. Jules. I can't wait to hear all about it. But it's in those moments that time can feel fast because we aren't present, we're not intentional. In this moment, we are showing up and doing all of the things. Those superhighways in our brain, they take over, and it's something easy. Little kids, for example, have a different relationship with time than we do. Why? Because they're learning all the time.

They're learning how to put a puzzle together. They're learning how to talk. They're learning how to walk. They're learning how to spell, how to read. So time can feel very different for them. They look forward to a holiday. Christmas can feel forever away. And for us, it's like, oh, snap, Christmas is going to be here in a hot tick. I gotta get ready. So right now, this week is the start of a very busy time for us. We may have lists of things to do and then layer in a whole set of different emotions around it.

So we might feel sadness because maybe our family dynamic has shifted or changed. For me, it's remembering what it was like to celebrate Christmas with my mom and dad because they have now passed, and holidays just feel different to me because I used to do everything for them for the holidays, and it was great. So we have emotions around it. Maybe we have an emotion around our budget, around the holidays. You know, sometimes it feels like we've had an entire year to plan for the holiday, but we only have one day to go shopping for it, and it becomes this thing.

So we can have all kinds of emotion around the holiday. There can be highs, there can be lows, There can be absences that we feel. So I'm going to take a breath, and I'm going to ask you, what do you feel right now as it relates to the. The next five weeks that are lingering for us? How do you feel about the holidays today that can change tomorrow, but what are you feeling today? What emotions are presenting themselves as you think about Thanksgiving coming up or Christmas coming up? Love to hear what you think.

Hello, Christine. So for me, again, holidays are a whole different swirl of emotions. But here's one thing that is true. Eminem says it best. So if you know the hip hop artist Eminem, he has a song that is probably one of his top rated songs called Lose Yourself. And a lyric inside of it says, if I lose myself, I lose everything. If I lose myself, I lose everything. So much truth and power in that phrase. So holidays can be a swirl. We can show up at family events or holiday parties, and maybe we're just checking the box because maybe we don't feel it and that's okay too, but feel finding ourselves in the holiday, holding space for ourselves in the holiday, setting boundaries.

During the holidays, whatever you celebrate, and even if you don't, you still somehow are in the mix of everybody else's celebrations. Finding time for you is the most important time that you can spend right now. I would say this all year round, but I also say it really specific around the holiday season because there's motion around it. Adulting holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas is very different than the child version of holidays and Christmas. Jules. Uncertain due to new job requirements, can't take the same time off.

Yeah, vacation time has changed. A new company has new rules around holidays, different policies. Those are very real emotions. I was at a retreat last weekend and it was really interesting because I was at a retreat. There were 26 women at this retreat, and 24 of them, 23 of them are all moms. Now I don't have the luxury of being a mom. It just wasn't in the cards for me. So I parent all of the people on our team and everybody that I can. But I don't have that same requirement. So I listened really intently because of all the moms that I know and the dads that I know, the holidays can be really stressful.

But what I listened and what I heard were a few things that are consistent no matter what your role and your family dynamics are. The first thing I heard was we need to prioritize ourselves. I feel that this is true all year round. However, I find it especially important around the holidays, prioritizing ourselves. And here's why. There's a lot of emotion around the holidays. Maybe when you were growing up, the holidays were a happy time. Maybe they weren't. Maybe your parents are transitioning.

Maybe you've had a different change in your relationship, a personal relationship this year that now maybe we feel a new sense of loss or grief. Or on the flip side, maybe we have a new relationship and we're super excited about it. Again, finding yourself and what it means to you is really important. So set boundaries for yourself. Yes, I'm willing to go to three parties this year and here's the three or no holiday parties are going to trigger so much emotion that I'm processing that. Not ready for it.

It's okay. However you want to go through this time. But again, I go back to Eminem's words, if you lose yourself, you lose everything. So what are the boundaries that you need to set for yourself this holiday season? That's step one, two. What is one thing that you can gift yourself this holiday season? And I'm not talking anything material necessarily, but what is one gift you can give to yourself? Maybe you can gift yourself permission to take a 20 minute walk every day and allow your mind to not be connected to anything.

Maybe you can give yourself the gift of a massage or the gift of a sound bath. Or maybe it's simply the gift of time to read a book that you've been waiting for. And giving yourself permission during this holiday season where requirements might be different. Your companies might be preparing for year end. You might have a heavier workload to be able to take on that vacation time. Inside the mix of that is you continuing to find balance and support for you. For me, the gift I'm giving myself is permission to set a boundary around some of my holiday events.

I've found the last two years have just been really emotionally hard in a way that I haven't experienced before. Not having my mom and dad at holidays has taken a bigger toll on me. Not having children that I could invest that time into instead has taken a toll on me and I am recognizing that and giving myself some space. So I've decided that I'm doing something on Thanksgiving for people that come to our studio. And I'm baking pies on Wednesday and cookies and I'm bringing them to the studio on Thursday so everybody can have a little snack after class if they want to.

So it's a way that I can do something for myself because I love baking and it's a way that I can take some time to set a boundary because when I bake I just have music playing and it's just time to myself. So making sure that you're setting those things. The third thing that I'll invite you to do for self care during the holiday is this. Call your bestie. Just call your bestie. So my besties don't always live in Minneapolis, which is where I live right now, and I find that because they live in different states, we get really super busy.

But I also know that when I call them on the phone and FaceTime with them, or if we text and we identify a time or weekend that we can get together in January, February, that is the best gift I can give to myself. Taking time for myself because they rejuvenate me. So I happen to be on a text chain with five people right now. And in February, we're all going on a retreat together in Palm Desert and one of them booked an Airbnb and we just decided who's going to share the rooms and who's going to have their own room.

And it's something that I feel like is a gift that I just gave to myself because after the holiday season is over, I get to go have a reset with this group of people that, that fuel my soul. And because we're sharing a house together, the expense is low and. And it's going to be three days where, where we can laugh and come together. So whatever that is for you, taking time to acknowledge how you feel in the holidays, allowing yourself permission to take and give yourself a gift of time again, it could be a walk, it could be reading a book, it could be setting a boundary on how you will choose to participate this holiday season and maybe what you might do differently to protect yourself.

And then three, allow yourself to call that Bestie. Those people that know you the best, that help you to ground and reset, make time for that. I put it in my calendar. Even call Bestie today, because sometimes we're so busy that that's the one thing that I know I can do. And then I'm going to give you one for extra credit. Do a little gratitude journal over the next few weeks, because whatever motions might be drumming up right now, if you just take a pause three minutes in your day to start your day or end your day, or you just have it on your desk.

If you spend three minutes in a day just journaling gratitudes, it's a gift you can give yourself to help you remember that no matter how crazy the emotions might get or the expectations might get upon you, that there are tiny, tiny little things that feel your heart and your soul that you can just take a breath and find some gratitude with. So I hope you all are having a beautiful day. Whatever you feel today, feel it. Progress over perfection. Allow yourself to celebrate what you feel in this moment.

Even if it doesn't feel great, you're feeling it through the holidays. Remember, it's okay to not be okay. And know that we will be here for you, Cadre. And if you need anything, just ask. Send me a dmreambig30 on Instagram. Send me a note, say, you know what? I need a moment. Can you be my friend? I called today. I'll say yes. So most importantly, set the boundaries for yourself. And know that that is great, because sometimes we need permission to be able to do that for ourselves. So here you have permission to do that for you today.

So I hope you enjoy the rest of your day, and I'll be back here on Monday for a little leading with authenticity.
