This week on Speak Wonder, we talk about integration. Integration is the idea of internalizing knowledge, insights and experiences so they become part of you. What's your 1% better that you're working on this week? Share your stories.
Journaling helps absolutely. I like to hang on to conversations. Different techniques for different people. 1% better look for those small things, small incremental changes that lead to big breakthroughs.
Hey, good morning. Cadre Craig thielen here with 1% better. So 1% better. The mindset of constant growth. Big changes, big breakthrough, small changes, big breakthroughs. Would love to hear what you're doing to improve. What's your 1% better from last week? What's your 1% better that you're working on this week? This week I want to talk about this idea of integration. Last week I spoke about finding your energy, finding things that just make you happy, that you groove with, that you do. And it just, it feels great.
And so for me, Luke, welcome. Great to see you here. If you joined last week, one of the things for me is that make me feel great is learning new experiences, meeting new people, learning things. And I do that sort of speed dating. The best way I do it is through travel. And so I find every opportunity I can to travel. Welcome T North. Welcome. Speak Wonder Erie, Pennsylvania. Love it. Again, share your stories. Love to see those in the stream here as well on things that you're doing. And so last week I was traveling.
It was a lot. It was five countries, 8C. Just an amazing time. Almost too much to really absorb at once. And so it made me think, how do I do that? How do I absorb all that and not let it become a distant memory? We do this often. We go, we do fun things or we go on vacation, we come back, we get into the grind, we get back into our routine. And it almost like it never happened. It's like a dream. It's like it's in the past and we forget it. And that happens actually with daily occurrences and conversations and small events as well.
And so it made me think about integration. What is integration? Well, integration is this idea of internalizing knowledge, insights and experiences that you have so they become part of you. And so what are techniques that you can use to do this? And so I'll give you some examples. I agree. Speak Wonder. I learn so much on traveling. Like I call it a mini masters every time I go someplace new in terms of the learnings about that. Couldn't agree more. So for me, what I do, I found to do over. Over the time I've had.
Traveling is a number of things. One is when I'm there, I try to slow down. I try to have conversations with people, not just rush from spot to spot. I try to do things like just short meditations, like just take five minutes and just think and absorb and unwind and let what comes, comes. Sometimes I find I can journal. We do this quirky little thing where wherever we Go. We. We find little places that Anthony Bourdain has been to, and we take a picture and we put it into our little Anthony Bourdain journal picture of us.
And. And that's fun. And it brings back memories. Sometimes I'll buy things. I'll buy a T shirt, I'll buy a little memento. I just happen to have one here, my desk. It's a little coin and it's from Slovakia. And I'll put it somewhere and I'll pick it up someday and I'll go, oh, I remember that day I was in Bratislava, and I remember the restaurants that we ate at and the experiences that we had just because of one little momento. Clothing, paintings, whatever. It is just something that reminds us.
Obviously, we all take pictures, but sometimes we don't go back and look at them. And I read something once that said, when you go back and look at pictures, let's say they're a month old or a year old or five years old, it actually releases dopamine. You get pleasure out of memories. And so getting in a habit of doing that, of looking at your pictures, not just taking them and forgetting about them. It also made me think beyond even my trip. Like, how do we do that with just everyday occurrences?
You can do that with a single conversation with your neighbor. You could do it with a meeting. You could do it with any experience that you have, something you read, something you saw. And how do you integrate that? And there's so many great techniques on this. Obviously, I mentioned meditation, journaling, finding ways to write down actions in a future live stream. I'm going to talk about how do you sort of organize your life towards improvement and towards the things that you want to be and you want to be become.
These are powerful ways to integrate. One of the things I found, I do a podcast. It's called one percent Better, as you probably could have guessed. And I think you can find the link in my bio, so go check it out. And it's really full of inspirational stories of people who have done great things, but share their trials and tribulations. And many times I found what has inspired them or what has caused them to sort of accomplish the things or to overcome the challenges is through integration, is through even a single conversation that they had with somebody that they reflected on that and they went, wow, that's changed me.
I'm going to act different. I'm going to do something. I'm going to change my life. I'm going to organize my life. I'm going to do something positive if it was a negative event. And it's really inspiring. And so it's a very powerful technique. I would love to hear how you integrate your experiences, your insight, your learnings into your life, share those techniques, and hopefully you've learned something here today that helps you not lose those, those learnings because they're so easy to let that happen versus just taking a few minutes and finding a way to sort of incorporate that into your life and who you are.
Speak Wonder I like to hang on to conversations. Journaling helps absolutely. Everyone's different, but for me, I always have my, my little, my moleskin handy to write down things. I listened to a podcast on the flight home. I think it was Mel Robbins and man, she just said a lot of great insights and I was just jotting them down and now I have them. I can go back to them. But even just the idea of writing them down just sort of etched them into my, my mind and into me. So different techniques for different people.
Thanks for sharing. Speak Wonder So thank you for joining again. 1% better look for those small things, small incremental changes that lead to big breakthroughs. And I hope you all have a great week coming up.
