Hello Cadre sphere. Oh, it's kind of dark in here. Okay. Hey Cadre sphere. Anila here from Habit Aware. I help people change their lives through the power of awareness. Specifically by building awareness of subconscious mental health conditions. Hair pulling, skin picking and nail biting. We do that through a smart bracelet that builds awareness of these side subconscious hand movements and then the vibration is a cue to do the inner work, to realign mind and body. So I'm here on the Cadre sphere because I love sharing what I'm learning through this process of learning the power of awareness.
And this week in the Cadre sphere, this month is theme is harvest. And this week's theme is Personal growth and peace. And I titled mine Achieving personal growth through practice and Repetition. So today I'm going to interview someone very special to me about how they are leveraging practice and repetition to personally grow. And so you've met this person before, but let's formally introduce you to my 8 year old son, Mirin. Hi. So Mirin, you have been enjoying playing soccer with your buddies at school, right?
And today is day one of mea weekend. And where did you do, where did you go today? I got skills. He went to a place called I got Skills. Why'd you go there? To get skills. In what? In soccer? In soccer. So personal growth starts with taking action, starts with practice and repetition. What did they make you do at I got Skills today? A bunch of different drills. Different drills? Yeah, I guess. Practice, I don't know. Yeah. And when I picked you up, what were you doing? Scrimmage. Scrimmage? Some games.
Some, some 4 on 4, 5 on 5 games it looked like. Yep. So drills, practice and repetition. Right. You can't grow, you can't get better at anything if you don't try. And when it sucks the first time you have to decide, do you, are you gonna continue? Oh, hi. Speak wonder. It's good to see you. Yes, he is our very special. Cute, but he doesn't like that word. Sweet, silly, sporty. Yeah. What did you tell me in the car when we were getting to the car? I don't know about your skills. Do you remember you said I thought I was something and then you realized you are?
No. You don't remember? Yeah. Oh, okay. So what I remember him saying was I thought I wasn't so great at soccer, but after this day I think I'm pretty good. Right? Yeah. And he's getting better. So personal growth is about first choosing what brings you joy. In contrast, we also sent our 12 year old to basketball Camp today, and he hated it because he's not into it. He just told me on our little walk, I don't want to get good at basketball. Right. So also knowing where are you putting your effort?
Are you putting your effort into something that you actually want to be doing and enjoy like Marin is? Or are you be putting your effort into something that other people want you to get good at because you have a choice there? And that is the other thing that I'm learning, is that choice is when we recognize that we have a choice. Our lives, we can shape our lives to be what we want them to be. Right. Oh, you were so excited to be on, and then now you're, like, not into it. How come I wasn't excited?
But I said I was like, okay. You were not okay. You came and you ran upstairs and you came and sat with me when I said, I'm doing my Cadre. See? Come on. Yeah. So speak wonder. Yeah. Not really listening to my kids because I did force both children to go to these things today. Not force. I mean, I did ask them, but, you know, but. But also, you know, what is a kid gonna say when I ask, hey, do you want to go to a soccer camp for two days? Like, they don't really know what that is. They don't know what that means.
Right. You didn't know what to expect. Right. So now I can give them agency now that they've tried it. Now it's their choice. So are you gonna go back tomorrow? Right. Will my other son go back tomorrow? Probably not. And that's okay. At least he tried. Yeah. Oh, it's six hours. Just like yours, huh? Six hours. Oh, tell them it's a six hour day of soccer, right? With some. With a lunch break. Wait. Oh, yeah. But then I did seven hours because of soccer practice today, and he went to soccer practice today for his other soccer that he's in.
So then seven and a half hours today. How'd you go from six to seven and a half if soccer practice was only one hour? Because lunchtime is an hour, and I. I only take, like, 15 minutes to eat, so, like 30. Okay, okay. Okay. You're right. Well, so we can learn from kids how to build resiliency, how to build skills. It's through practice. It's through repetition, but it's also through choosing what brings us joy. Thanks for your time. Have a good night. It was good to see you. Yeah. Did it end? Okay?
There we go. Okay.
