How many people do you think would sit down in a public space and open up to a stranger?
Yesterday was my first day doing free therapy in Washington Square Park. I sat there for three hours and sat down with seven people over that time. It was such an interesting day that I want to make it a regular thing. Come see me Sunday afternoon.
Yesterday was my first day doing free therapy in Washington Square Park. This is a photo of me sitting down at the start. We didn't want to take any more photos while people were sitting with me just for confidentiality. But I sat there for three hours and sat down with seven people over that time. And pretty much as soon as somebody was getting ready to get up, there was somebody else getting ready to sit down. And I was kind of fascinated by how honest people were. I don't know if it's just with the assumption that they're never going to see me again, but one guy was talking about whether he should leave his girlfriend because they disagree on having children.
People were talking about finding direction in their life as they prepare back to move to their home country. Two 13 year old girls who when asked how old they thought I was, said 43. Burn. It was such an interesting day that I want to make it a regular thing. So Sunday afternoon, please, I'll be in Washington Square park in downtown Manhattan. Come see me.
