Don’t Take Criticism From Someone You Wouldn’t Take Advice From

Did you know that your dreams and your peace are the easiest to kill or stomp out while they're in seed form? Little, teeny, tiny seeds. If you don't know me, my name is Mary. This is my best friend and business partner, Jill, and we own a company called Girls Mentorship, where we teach life and personal development skills to teen and tween girls. And we've been in this conversation around fear recently, which has inspired us to pop on here and have the same conversation with you because we know you've got fears as well.

And I was just gonna say that we are constantly dancing with our fears. And if you want two girls to be in the rumble with you, it's us. And we practice these conversations day in and day out, and we feel like we need to share these tips and strategies because we know your dreams are important, and we know that sometimes that little fear Gremlin or monster or whatever you want to call your fear is keeping you from obtaining and reaching those goals. So what do I mean by easiest to kill in seed form?

Let's say I come to Jill with an idea or a thought that I have that I want to take action on, and I'm really excited about it, and Jill is not. And she says, that's stupid. That's a really dumb idea. I take that to heart. How many of you have taken that to heart and then you've not take an action on what you really were excited about because of someone else's opinion? Right. The voices that we listen to will shape the next 15 years of our life. It's the naysayers, the critics, the belittling, being discouraged.

It's those haunting voices. And a lot of times, we think those voices are coming from the people who don't support us. Right. Our haters, our enemies. But realistically, those voices can. Can come from people who love us the most, and that we love the most. And that includes ourselves. You, us. Uh huh. So our encouragement, our tip, our trick for this video is don't listen to them. Right? Don't listen to them. And here's something that we recently heard that we want to share with you, and it's don't take criticism from people.

You wouldn't take advice from God. And that just. That cuts like a knife. Right? Because if you're not taking advice from someone, if you wouldn't put yourself in their shoes or want to live their life or make them better, why are we taking criticism from them? Why are we putting our dreams, our ideas, on the back burner based on something they had to say. It doesn't make sense, right? And I think the cool part in this conversation is knowing who you get to share your big ideas with, your dreams with.

Because I know I have a lot of friends, and there are certain friends that aren't playing the game as big as I am, and I'm not going to share those dreams or ideas with those people, but I have another group of people who want us to win so badly that that is where I want to open up and share what we're working on, because I know they got our back. And realistically, Sarah Blakely, the founder of Spanx, she didn't share her idea about Spanx for an entire year. She was building her business behind the scenes without sharing it with a single soul because she knew that people would s*** all over her idea.

And it is a multibillion dollar company now. Look at her brand. She's built it. I mean, we're inspired by it. And I think it's really cool to just know that she had the wherewithal to keep her blinders and her focus forward until she was ready to share it with people who were going to breathe belief into that dream. So if you need somebody to share your big goals, ideas and dreams with, please find us. Seek us out. We're here to champion you. We're here to cheerlead that on. If you know you don't have anybody else in your life to do that, know that, don't listen to them.
