Good morning. Happy Wednesday. I'm happy to finally be back on my regularly scheduled day. I have a list of things on my to do list, so I will be jumping into everything else after this.
Short: Maybe it's time to switch it up. Short: If you feel like you need a breakthrough or you need some new awareness, try this. Number three for me was fasting. Enjoy the rest of your day and I will be back next week.
Good morning. Happy Wednesday. I'm happy to finally be back on my regularly scheduled day. I hope everybody is off to a great start for their day. I am. I have a list of things on my to do list, so I will be jumping into everything else after this. Okay. Today I wanted to talk to you about. Maybe it's time to switch it up. I heard a podcast recently that was the topic, was when you're waiting, when you're just in this waiting period for something to happen, it's kind of like you're waiting for a breakthrough, right?
We've all been here at one point or another, and that's kind of where I am. And I always think to myself, God, I'm doing, you know, this, this, this. I feel like I'm doing everything. But I also know that a lot of times, we can be. We're too close to ourself. We. We can only see what we can see, right. And so we have to be open to different perspectives and ideas and. And turn to different sources to hopefully get some kind of new awareness around maybe something that we're not doing right. So I'm listening to this episode, and the host talks.
She gives a list. You know, if you're. If you really feel like you need a breakthrough or you need some new awareness, try this. 12345. She gives a list of, like, five things, and I'm doing one, two, four, and five. And I'm like, oh, number three for me was fasting. So I'm actually fasting right now. But it's. It's cool because with fasting, there's so many options and ways to do that. I chose to do one meal a day for three days because that's just what intuitively came to me that I should do, or that would be a good option for me.
So I've done fasting once before, not too long ago, actually, and it was just a 24 hours fast. And I remember just, it was tough because it was my first time ever doing it, but I felt accomplished after I did it. And I thought, oh, this is cool. Like, I'm able to do something like that, right? But I think, you know, for me, this is more of a spiritual fast. And it just got me thinking, like, how many other things or ways are there for all of us to just kind of break out of our normal routines and habits?
And it could be simple. It could be something like, start praying if you are not in the regular habit of praying or start journaling. What else did I put here? Oh, I did this probably two years ago now I made my first ever solitary getaway. I think I spent two days, not too far, about an hour from home, got a little Airbnb. That's when I launched my podcast. I just needed to be completely alone with me, myself and I. To let whatever happened, happened or come through, come through. And it did. And I was very productive.
And I just. I think I'm such an advocate now for doing solitary getaways regularly. To have this time, these insights that come to us in no other way. Maybe you need to get in community. Maybe that's a Bible study or a coaching group, something that maybe you have a shared interest with others. There's all sorts of groups everywhere at the junior colleges, on meetup, on Facebook groups. I mean, you can just turn to just about anywhere these days to find people with shared interests and values and be a part of a bigger community.
More minds together are always a good thing. I know some people can go a little more extreme. We have people on our Cadre team, and I'm not saying that they did these things to get a breakthrough, but some people will do things like run a marathon. So amazing of these two guys that did that, Alec and Luke, I know somebody who whenever she feels stuck, she will do something really bold and courageous for her and for her. She has done a mud run and she has done skydiving and those sort of things. Not my cup of tea, but it always works for her and helps her to kind of have those breakthroughs and take that next step to where she needs to go.
So I just thought that this was really a helpful idea, that whenever you do start to feel like, you know, things aren't playing out or happening the way you want them to, or you just feel that urgency for you needing a breakthrough, that maybe it's time to switch it up and try something new and whatever that looks like, just something that you haven't really tried before, it's going to be a little uncomfortable, a little scary, but it's going to be worth it. It's going to break you from your normal routine and ways, and I know it'll bring some enlightenment your way.
So hopefully that helps. Short word today. Enjoy the rest of your day and I will be here again next week. See you guys later.
