Today, I will share an insightful thought that you may apply in your personal and/or professional life.
Audrey. Hope everybody's doing great today. I'm mostly packed up and I'm heading north 6 hours. I love driving and I look forward to these trips because it's quiet time for me to just think. But towards the end of every trip like this, I definitely am eager to get home.
Luke: The thought of today is expect great things to happen. He was inspired by a sign on a tree in the harbor. He told his sister to go into a new job with no expectations. When we can go in expecting great things, it will change the experience.
I'm expecting great things to happen along my drive. Use it for every situation that you're in, every context. Let that thought alone change your experience. I hope you have a great day and week ahead.
Audrey. Hope everybody's doing great today. I, after this, am packing up. Well, I'm mostly packed up and I'm heading north 6 hours. So I kind of, I love driving and I look forward to these trips because it's quiet time for me to just think. And I'm always inspired, so I look forward to that. But towards the end of every trip like this, I definitely am, like, eager to get home. There goes the announcer, the alerts. So if you're live, I am a little earlier than normal today. Usually I'm at 830, but today I'm at eight because of my trip.
So I'm going to share the thought of today, and the thought of today is expect great things to happen. So let me tell you the backstory on this. Last week I was driving down to the harbor where I take my walks probably about twice a week. And I've been doing this for the last five years. And I saw this sign on a tree as I entered into the harbor. And I was like, what? I've never, ever. Okay, again, I've driven here twice a week for the past five years. I've never seen this sign. And I can tell it wasn't new because it was, it just looked, like, worn out.
And it said, expect great things to happen. And I was like, oh, my gosh. And I instantly was inspired by that and knew I was going to share it with you guys because just before that, I was on the phone with my sister, who was sharing with me that she's starting a new job and not a new job, she's moving to a new department, and she's heard all these things about the new team leaders that she's going to be working with, and she just was not looking forward to it. And anyway, the negative was, or the conversation was a little bit negative in that regard.
And I was trying to encourage her and just telling her, why don't you go in with a clean slate? Like you don't know for a fact that this is the way these team leaders are going to be with you or that they are that way at all. So why don't you, for your sake, just go in with a blank mind as far as they're concerned and don't have any expectations. Just expect that it's going to be a good experience for you and that they're going to be, they're going to treat you nice and kind and you're going to work well together.
Right. So that's why I was very inspired by this sign in this message and just in everyday situations, right. Whenever we're stepping into a new situation, a meeting, a party, an event, whatever it is, we're so, we're so wired naturally to kind of make assumptions or predictions and a lot of times they're negative, like, oh, it'll probably be this or it's, I'm sure, you know, we'll come up with something that's more negatively wired, I'll say. And that does not help us because it kind of stirs us up in the wrong way.
Right. So when we can go in expecting great things to happen, it's automatically going to change that experience, whatever and wherever that is. And so that's really all I wanted to share with you guys today. Hey, good morning, Luke. How are you? Hope you're doing great. You know, my eyes are terrible. Let's see. Amazing advice. Also, tell her to what is this reality based leadership. Not sure what that is, but we'll cover that after. Okay. So I'm heading out and I have to pass through LA traffic because that's the route I go to go to northern California.
So I'm expecting great things to happen along my drive. I'm expecting to get inspired and refreshed and renewed, even though I'll be stuck in a car for 6 hours and I'm sure at some point it'll get old and I'll just want to arrive at my destination. But, and for everything after my drive, I'm expecting great things to happen wherever I'm at and whoever is around. And so take that with you. Use it for every situation that you're in, every context. And let that thought alone change your experience just by having that positive thought of expecting great things.
That's it. I know. Super short. I hope you have a great day and week ahead and I will see you again next week. Bye. Bye, guys.
