Every week I'll discuss working toward your big dreams. Tune in and engage with me!
It feels like forever since I've seen you guys. Last week I had some technical difficulties. I try not to book anything on Fridays at nine, but alas, the schedule just. is what it is. I hope that you're already kicking off your long weekend.
I bought on Amazon a weighted blackout eye mask that is changing the course of my sleep direction. Give yourself permission to show up really big in the room. And if somebody isn't inspired by how big you want toshow up, that's their problem.
Oftentimes, we want to go for the big guns. But what I don't want you to do is to sleep on the stepping stones. If you can reach the people in that community, that might be a stepping stone to the person that you want to get to.
If you can't get to the stars, be happy with the clouds. Enjoy the puffy clouds. Live in that perfect space of aligning yourself with the people who are currently at or who may have been at the same place that you are at. Have a great weekend.
Good morning or afternoon, wherever you may be. If you're on the east coast, it's lunchtime. It is Friday. I cannot believe. Well, first of all, it feels like forever since I've seen you guys. Excuse me, I had a sneeze there. It feels like forever because last week I had some technical difficulties. If you tried to tune in, thank you for that. If I let you down, I am so sorry. I tried to be remote and go live and it just. It wasn't working for me. I try not to book anything on Fridays at nine, but alas, the schedule just.
It is what it is. And when you are self employed, you just have to make it work. So I hope that you're already kicking off your long weekend and that you're getting some respite and some time this weekend. I know our founder, Luke is gearing up for the run of his lifetime. Hi, Marissa. Yes. So I am going to bring you guys back. I still have the same theme from last week, so I'm tying in last week's theme with a little bit more gusto behind it this week. So a couple of. Couple of side notes. Number one, I got amazing, like, hours, chunks of sleep last night.
I don't know that it was like the best sleep of my life cause I don't really get great sleep, but I bought on Amazon a weighted blackout eye mask that is changing the, like, the course of my sleep direction. Like, it was life altering. This morning when I woke up, I removed the mask and it was five something in the morning and it was light out already here in Arizona. And I was like, this thing is legit blackout. And it's an adjustable strap on the back so it didn't move when I slept. I could adjust it to my tiny head size.
So if you are somebody who struggles with sleep, this weighted eye mask was a game changer. So just wanted to tell you that. And then the other thing I wanted to tell you guys before I get into my message today, is to give yourself permission to show up really big in the room. I had a client that I was doing a virtual consult with yesterday who purchased a 90 minutes session with me. And we did the first 30 minutes to kind of get to know each other and her needs and all of the things that she was hoping to get out of the session.
And then after the 30 minutes, we broke up the session to do 30 minutes and then an hour. And this client rescheduled that hour with me, which was just a virtual session to just high level, like, style coaching. She rescheduled that remaining hour, like, three different times. And she always felt like she wasn't quite ready to talk about it or wasn't really sure what we were going to talk about. And she knew that she needed some time with me and wanted some coaching, but I could sense that she was having a really hard time committing to leveling up.
And in our call, she finally kept that last call, thank goodness, because it was just a lot of readjusting. And in the call, one of the things that she said was, you know, I think I'm a little bit nervous. Like, let's say, for instance, she's back in the dating scene. I'm a little bit nervous to feel more dressed up or overdressed compared to the person that I'm going out with. Like, I went out with a guy the other day that was in a t shirt and shorts and flip flops, and I felt like if I showed up more dressed and more thoughtfully and more purposeful, that it was just gonna be too much for him.
And I just was thinking to myself, like, who cares? Who cares? You're not getting dressed for him. You're getting dressed for you. And this is something that you need to do for you. You are trying to level up. So if you're hiring a stylist and you're doing well at your job and you're trying to level up in your life, and you revert back to this small mentality of I'm scared to show up too big because other people might feel uncomfortable. Good. I hope they do feel uncomfortable. I hope that they do.
And I hope that they look at you and say, that's inspiring. And if somebody isn't inspired by how big you want to show up, that's their problem. That's on them. They have their own work to do. So that was just a message that I wanted to share with you guys today. So. Okay, now I'm really going to get into the nuts and bolts of what I want to talk about, which is this idea of not sleeping on the stepping stones. So here's what I mean by that. Oftentimes, we want to go for the big guns, right? Like, we have this company we want to pitch.
We have this person that we want to tell our idea to. We have a house that we want to buy. We have this trip that we want to go on. We have this expensive purse we might want to buy. We have an expensive car we might see ourselves in. Nuts and bolts. Hi, Jill and Mary. And we see ourselves at this, like, high level, which is great. I want you to visualize yourself there. I want you to think about those things. But what I don't want you to do is to sleep on the stepping stones that might get us there.
And I'll give you a for instance. I have these big, grand visions of partnering with some very specific people in the business world with my product line, and I might not get there on the first phone call or the first pitch email. And in fact, I've been rejected on multiple occasions. And I'm starting to realize that those people are surrounded by a community of people that believe in them, that are close with them, that are friends with them. And if you can reach the people in that community, that might be a stepping stone to the person that you want to get to.
Might that be a good avenue for getting to where you want to go? Might that be a great person to align yourself with? Why is that a great person to align yourself with? I'm going to tell you, because that person might not be at the level of the CEO or the business owner or the person that you seek to have the relationship with or the company that you seek to do business with, but chances are they are trusted. They are obviously hanging around the right people, and they probably were very recently at, or are currently at the same space and time, at the same location, in the same, on the same point in the map of their journey that you are currently on.
So they might really relate to you and where you're at in your life. And I've really been thinking about aligning myself with these people and beyond just the people that I want to get to. I've been aligning myself with the stepping stones of life and not feeling disappointed by that, but feeling excited by that, because I feel like the stepping stones are part of the journey. And I'm not saying don't reach for the stars, because let me tell you, I do go to the big guns first, too. But oftentimes, people go to the big guns, maybe they get a rejection, and then they stop.
They stop in their tracks. What I want you to do is reframe that, and I want you to continue to reach for the stars. Right? Like, this is all about going after your big dreams. This is all about, like, putting those things on your vision board. But I don't want you to ignore the vehicles. Ha ha. See what I did there that might get us to the big guns? That is the stepping stones. That is. When I first started car shopping, I was looking at Mercedes. Like, why do I need a Mercedes? Guess what? The Hyundai that I got, which is a car I never expected to get into.
Just because I don't know anything about Hyundai is not. Because it's not a Mercedes. I just don't. I didn't know. I didn't even know that was a car that I should be looking at. Like, how could I blatantly ignore the car that actually does more than the Mercedes that I got at a fraction of the price, that feels beautiful and brand new? And how blessed do I feel that I'm able to be in a new working vehicle going into summer in Arizona? But I was willing because I had such tunnel vision for the Mercedes, because I have a friend that works there, and he was going to hook it up and all these things, and meanwhile, Mercedes was going to give me a 14% interest rate.
Bye. Peace. No way. What a waste of money. No chance. And when I started taking myself out of the clouds and taking myself away from the CEO, aka the Mercedes, and pulled myself back into the community of cars and doing my research, making friends at a lower level, I capitalized on the stepping stones that will get me to the mercedes one day, if that's what I so choose, which I probably won't. Because you start to realize the car industry is a little bit of a racket. You start to really appreciate what happens at that mid level.
Right, the mid level. The stepping stones are what make the world go round. So my message to you today is just that don't sleep without an eye mask. No, don't sleep on the community and the stepping stones that make the world go round. Build those relationships. Seek out those people. Align yourself with the communities that support and encourage the top level boulders. Okay, we've got stepping stones. We've got boulders. Align yourself with those people. Send them your product. Champion them. They may have just been or are currently at where you're at in your journey.
See the value in those people. See the value in the stepping stones. Get from point a to point b. That's all I need to do in my car. And the minute you can take yourself out of this place of living where you feel like you have to do what society expects of you, that is, be around the coolest person. Drive the most expensive vehicle. Nobody cares what car I'm driving. Nobody cares. Guess what? The valet is parking ferraris here in Scottsdale. They don't care if I'm in a Range Rover. They've seen a million of them.
Nobody cares. In fact, I don't want to drive the same car as my clients. They're going to think I'm doing too well. You know, I like to be in that, like, struggle zone. So that's where I want you to set your sights as well as, obviously, the big guns shoot for the stars. But if you can't get to the stars, be happy with the clouds. Because the clouds are really puffy and nice and friendly and so cushiony. The stars have points on them. They could be a little bit more harsh, probably. Enjoy the puffy clouds.
Live in that perfect space of aligning yourself with the people who are currently at or who may have been at the same place that you are at. And I promise you, you will get there, because what will happen is you'll start to get the attention of the people that they give their attention to. So I hope that this inspires you and reminds you that the stepping stones are part of the journey. And the journey is beautiful, and you should enjoy that journey. And instead of trying to have everything all at once and max yourself out and put yourself in too uncomfortable of a place, maybe financially or just in general, enjoy the process of getting there, and I promise you will get to that end result and you'll feel even more empowered, like you've practiced enough, like you've surrounded yourself around like minded people, and it will make getting to the top that much sweeter.
So I love you guys. As always, I hope that this message resonates with you. I hope that you have a safe, healthy, happy, relaxing, long weekend. Be careful of little ones around open water and pools this weekend. And everybody go and cheer Luke Wendland on, not only on his huge race that he is starting today, but go say happy birthday to him tomorrow. Don't tell him I told you. Love you guys. Have a great weekend.
