How important adaptability can be to our human experience
The host opens with a friendly greeting and asks viewers to pause and tune into how they're feeling. This short introduction sets the tone and previews that the video will focus on noticing thoughts.
The speaker explains that taking thoughts as gospel can create being stuck and shares a recent personal example of realizing a long-held thought was false. This section highlights how mistaken thinking can limit perspective.
The presenter frames changing your mind as the first step toward unstuckness, peace, and acceptance, noting that adaptability in mindset helps individuals thrive and influences communities. She emphasizes the ripple effect of personal change on the wider world.
Practical advice is given to notice when you’re in a thought rut, expand perspective, and allow change despite its difficulty. The video closes with encouragement to keep growing, a brief sign-off, and reassurance that change leads to forward movement.
Happy Friday! Hey Cadre, how you doing? Good? Meh? I'm doing well. Hopefully you're having a decent day so far whenever you're reading this or watching this rather but you know take a second to tune in to actually see how you feel and acknowledge, right? We don't do that very often. We're skipping over it. And today I want to dive right into that in our thoughts. When our thoughts are taking over and we think that our thoughts are truth and gospel, that's often when we can get stuck. And for me, I had an experience this week where I was so used to thinking a certain way about something and it was not true.
It just, it was proven to me I got new evidence to the contrary that was false, the way that I was thinking was false. And it got me thinking that That has happened so many times in my life where I think I'm right, or I think that this is the way it should be, or well, this is how it's been done, blah, blah, blah. And it's so false because we have to be open and adaptable to new ways of being, thinking, doing, living, you name it. And that's why changing your mind is the first step towards unstuckness, the first step towards peace, the first step towards acceptance.
We don't have to like everything, but we certainly can't resist it. When we resist it, we create suffering within ourselves. And I want to convey that the way we think has so much power over our experience of being a human and our life can be so much better just by changing our minds. It was Darwin that said the most adaptable human survives. And I would take it a step further and say the person that is the most adaptive in their mindset is meant to thrive. We have the ability to come out of patterns, behaviors, in routines that we have and change it for the better.
And our example of that will emanate outward to where we're actually the good that we do for ourselves is the good that we can do in the world. What we do that helps us is also helping the world. And you're inspiring the people by you. You're shifting your community by showing up and being helpful and having good constructive conversations. And so I just want to remind you that if you feel stuck, sometimes it's just because of how we're thinking about a specific thing. And cut yourself. Notice when you're thinking a certain way about, it could be literally anything, work, politics, um, family dynamics, whatever it is, notice if you're like in that like rut, that divot of, well, this is, here it goes again, right?
And can we morph and change into a more open perspective? Like expanding our perspective is something that's helped me immensely get out of my own ego or notice it at least. and help me learn, which is pretty much what we're here for. So learn, grow, love. And so change your mind because it will change your life. I promise. Whatever you're thinking about, whatever that thought was when I said that, that's what you're supposed to change. I don't make the rules. That's just how it goes. Short one for you today, but hope that You think about it or that you notice when you're thinking about something that you could shift your mindset on.
So best of luck on that. I know it's not easy. Change is hard. We hate change. It's difficult, but it always leads to the next step on your path. And that's what matters is we just keep going, keep on going, baby. Have a great day. We'll see you next time, Cadre.
