Luke opens the stream with a brief personal update about a medical check and his role at Cadre, then celebrates the community and a successful coaching certification weekend led by Dr. Sharice.
Luke recounts watching his dad work all week for the weekend and prompts a candid conversation with a teammate about what working at Cadre feels like, setting up the need to rethink the workweek.
Luke explains the idea of flipping the ‘work hard, play hard’ script by building small, everyday moments of living into workdays, illustrated by a rejuvenating no‑WiFi retreat and the importance of defining success for these moments.
Luke offers specific daily actions—calling a friend, early walks, texting gratitude—and challenges viewers to adopt micro moments to prevent burnout while balancing the capacity to serve others and oneself.
Luke thanks the community, reiterates the value of micro moments, acknowledges not every message will resonate with everyone, and invites viewers to find contributors who do connect with them before signing off.
Hi everybody, Luke Wentland here. Hope you had a amazing Monday. Usually as you're all aware, I usually try to go live first thing Monday morning, but sometimes like life happens. I had a MRI on my neck last week and I had the reading of that today. So an arthritic neck, how amazing, right? But again, my name is Luke Wentland. I've been at Cadre since day one. I live for this community. I live for this place. There's nowhere in the world I'd rather soon than be right here with you and right here with this community.
Cheers to you. Having a little bit of my decaf coffee today, still this late. Cheers. We had an amazing weekend here at Cadre. So we had the coaching certification training, which was phenomenal. Dr. Sharice absolutely killed it with the team. It was so great. Oh my gosh, Jordan Smith has decaf cheers to you. Decaf cheers to you too. But Dr. Sharice Johnson just killed it in the first wave of the cohort of in-state coaches for the Blue Cross Blue Shield pilot. It was just, it was so awesome. As much as you kind of learn about how to coach, I think you also learn a lot about yourself during the time as well.
So if you ever have an opportunity to participate in a coaching certification of any capacity, I would just highly encourage you to do it. Like I said, I learned a lot. It was awesome. It was so great. So here's to you. Please go do that. Again, my topic today was working for the weekends. So growing up, I would see my dad My dad worked a lot. He worked a lot. And I would always kind of see him going hard Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and to have this little bit of time on the weekends, and a little bit of work usually on Saturday, Sunday, and then back to work right away on Monday.
And I always challenge the team here at Cadre and I actually just had a conversation with somebody right before this live. And I was like, how would you describe, working at Cadre? And just be really honest with me, like, what would this look like for you? And she's like, I love my job. I love it here. It's also a little scary and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And I'm like, well, of course, you know, due to the stage that we're in and all the things. But how do we have micro moments that the old generation of the work hard, play hard, where you work Monday through Friday really, really hard and you put in your 40, 50, 60 hour weeks and you finally get the weekend and you do it all over again.
How do we flip the script to be able to say, you know what we're going to do? We're going to have micro moments every day. Hell, maybe even every half day that you have these moments of like, I'm living today, even though I'm working. I'm living for today and the weekend. I'm living for right now. I'm living to enjoy this sound of cold punch, this walk, this enjoyable afternoon yoga session. How do you find the balance? How do you find that opportunity? And what I think you're going to find is A, I don't think it's actually that hard, number one.
And then B, I think it's also really important to set appropriate parameters around what is success there. Meaning, I'll give you an example. My wife and I, think I brought this up before, we went to this incredible retreat that we were able to stay at for two days. Amazing place. It was awesome. It's one of those no Wi-Fi, no TV, just amazing sauna. Lake, right by the lake, you can have a fire, s'mores, bikes, like just everything. And M&I, big takeaway was, this is awesome, but how do we do this a little bit like this every day?
How do you set up 15 minutes? How do you set up 30 minutes? And how do we make sure that we're not burning out, that we're extending not only our lives, but our professional lives too? My challenge for you all is set a micro moment micro opportunity every day. Here's a little micro opportunity I'm gonna have. My micro opportunity is gonna be to call a friend tonight. My micro opportunity tomorrow is going to be wake up a little early and I am gonna go on that big walk and I'm gonna treat myself to an amazing cup of coffee.
You know, my micro moment on Wednesday is I'm gonna phone a friend and I'm gonna have lunch and I'm gonna go have this amazing micro moment together with somebody else. on Thursday, I am going to text five people that I care about, that I reach out to, that I want to feel grateful for. And damn it, by Saturday and Sunday, I'm gonna rest and I'm gonna do some other things that are gonna make me feel really good so I can live for that too. But there's this fine balance, I believe, between the capacity to serve and serve others, business or otherwise, or employees or teammates.
But also you gotta take yours too. And you gotta take yours every day. I was kind of big for years about like, go, go, go, 1% better, gotta make it count, can't miss a day, can't blank, blank, blank. But what I found is I'm at my best. when I find the one or two things that I can really have a micro love affair with rather than get to the weekend and say, this is the trip I'm gonna do. This is the thing I'm gonna be a part of. This is the blank. Not saying those are bad. They're good, but you can do both.
And I think what you're gonna find is you're gonna find a lot of joy in your life on Monday through Friday. That's my challenge. See if you can make it happen. Have an amazing week. Thanks for participating. Thank you for being here with me today. It means the world to me. I love this community more than anything. You all hear me say that every Monday. Love this. I find that practicing this for a while, the micro opportunities just about every, every, yes. Oh my gosh, that's so good. Speak Wonder says micro moments for the win.
Jordan is so spot on. Once you start to like, you know, it's the old adage, what you focus on increases. And then all of a sudden it's like, oh, you know what? I love that little thing. I love that little cup of coffee that I have on Tuesday mornings and I push myself to do that. I push myself to have that cup of coffee and get out, get out of the house, go do a blank, blank, blank, right? So you guys take care. Thanks for joining in. Like I said, love participating, love being a part of this. And I just hope that, you know, with every little contribution from all of our amazing contributors, There's these like these little back to like micro moments, these little micro moments of every live stream and every whatever.
Not everyone's gonna hit. Like, right? Like there's probably gonna be plenty of people that hear me and say, not my guy, not my cup of tea. Cool, that's fine. But you know what? Maybe Jordan is, or maybe Ro is, or maybe JC is, or maybe so-and-so is, or, you know, there's plenty of individuals, male or female on this platform that you can say, hey, That's my person. That feels good. And I want to see them back again next week. So here's to you. Here's for doing the right thing as many times as possible.
And thank you again for being here. Love you guys. Peace. Bye-bye.
