  1. 0:01Intro and welcome

Bri opens with warm greetings, a Happy Friday, and a quick personal note about finishing work and seeking relaxation. This short intro sets a friendly tone and frames the rest of the video.

  2. 0:22Reflecting on summer

Bri talks about the end of summer and the upcoming long weekend as an opportunity for rest and reflection. She prompts viewers to think about how their summer felt and to honor different seasonal needs.

  3. 1:16Theme: making the moment matter

Bri explains the episode’s focus—being present—using a recent scattered, 'ADD' day as an example. She emphasizes that our minds and bodies have seasons and that honoring them helps cultivate presence.

  4. 2:48Why presence matters

Through everyday examples like missed walks, Bri shows how being in our heads causes us to miss experiences. She outlines emotional benefits of presence, noting that noticing 'right now' can make life feel lighter and more connected.

  5. 4:23Practical presence tips

Bri recommends noticing when you’re not present, redirecting attention (like breathing), and treating focus as a skill with rewards. She likens this noticing-and-returning process to meditation and introduces rewarding concentration as training for the brain.

  6. 6:13Books and memory connection

Bri shares book preferences and asks for recommendations, then ties being present to forming lasting memories. She explains that peaceful, connected moments become the memories that enrich life.

  7. 7:19Closing and farewell

Bri reiterates the call to make the moment matter, wishes viewers a restful weekend of presence and reflection, and ends with plans for a potential book club and a friendly goodbye.

Hey cadre, how's it going? Happy Friday. It's Bri here, your wellness and nature enthusiast. So wanted to wish you a happy Friday. We're going into a long weekend. I know I'm super excited about it. Just wrapped up all my work and it feels good. I'm ready to try to get some relaxation in since I feel like I've had a very busy, on-the-go summer. How has your summer been? Busy? Reflective? Relaxing? Or maybe none of those things. Maybe you're still just trying to, hey, Rachel, so good to see you. Maybe you're still trying to wrap your head about around what summer was for you.

I still haven't even fully reflected on it. And it's a great time. This weekend is a great time for rest and reflecting on the hard work of what you have put effort into for the past season and perhaps what you want to dive into for the next season. I know that today's discussion is about making the moment matter, because I tell you what, the last week I had such an ADD day, just like, but just bouncing around. I could not, I was leaving like cabinets open. I completely forgot to finish my laundry and I sent like the wrong e-mail to somebody.

I was just like so all over the place. And it just made me think that some days my brain is just like that. And I know that. And I still can be okay and grateful and present in what I'm doing, despite the fact that I'm jumping like a beach ball, bouncing around like a beach ball all over the place. different seasons, we have different reasons for why our anatomy, our brain, our hearts are functioning the way that they do. And Rachel, it sounds like you are in a mode of getting ready to sell the house after coming off of a lazy few weeks, that's great.

We have these different seasons and different reasons and we are not machines. I can't emphasize it enough. Our body and our hearts and our minds are not machines. And honoring that is one step towards becoming more present in the moment. It's hard. It's really tough. When was the last time you took a walk and you were like, Gosh, I just thought. the entire time about XYZ conversation or something, right? Which means that we missed the whole walk. We missed everything about the nature and the sounds and we missed it because we were in our heads.

And so. It's crucial that we try to live in the moment so we can be happier, we can be more open, we can be more memorable, more charismatic, and reflect upon how awesome life really is. Because in this moment right now, I have zero problems. You have zero problems right now and right now. It's not to say that you don't have any problems and that they won't come up. That's life. But noticing that for right now, I'm okay. For today, I'm just going to focus on what I can, which is the present moment because people are going, people want to be around others that they feel like they're listening to, that they're being listened to, they're understanding.

It's like contagious when you're around somebody that's just so present and full of life that they're just, they're consciously aware of their actions and their tone and their speaking and their body language and it's light, it's lively, it's vibrant. So I encourage you to take notice this weekend about when you're not present, that's the best place to start because as soon as you catch it, you can redirect your focus back. Actually, that is what meditation is. It's noticing that you have wandered off, your mind has wandered someplace else, and then you just come right back.

That's, it's simple, but really difficult. And excuse me. So when that happens, start to Breathe, just come back into the body and just be like, coming back, coming back, rebound rate, working on our rebound rate to come right back to the present moment. And secondly, when you are present or you just come, you were working really hard on a project or you were diving deep into a book, speaking of, if you've read a great book, please drop it in the chat. I'm getting some recommendations. I just returned mine to the library last night so I could use some book recs.

No, I lost my training. Oh yeah, when we are focused and concentrated, it's important to reward ourselves for that. We can train our brain to want to focus more, to enjoy concentrating, to find fulfillment in finishing something through dedicated effort. Third, books. I like lighthearted novels. I'm a rom-com girl in the summer. mild thrillers and some history in the fall. So we're starting to get into fall. So maybe some of those, but just like a really good all around novel is one of my favorite books to read.

I have to alternate that and self-help because you can only read so much self-help all the time. So third, be in the moment. Because when-- Anything Emily-- Oh, I love Emily Henry. Yes. I've, uh, People We Meet on Vacation, Beach Read. Yes. And I thought the movie was, uh, really good and it was cool. She did a little cameo. I read Remarkably Bright Creatures. It made me cry. It was so good. But yes. Okay, girl, you know what I like to read. That is exactly it. So keep-- Yeah. Keep 'em coming. Um, so the third thing I'll leave you with is that when we're in the moment, That is when we are creating lasting memories.

When you reflect back at memories, good memories that you've had in your life, you were so at peace with reality and so connected to everything around you. And that leads to a really long, fulfilled, loving, open life. So making the moment matter, trying to be more present and noticing when you're not, and then rewarding yourself so that you are building the muscle, the repetition of like, I like to focus and get things done and be in the present so I can be happy, right? They say the presence is a gift.

So That's what I will leave you with today. I hope that you can create some beautiful memories this weekend while you are resting, reflecting, relaxing, and working on being present and enjoying the moment and being grateful for everything that you have. And yes, Rachel, we should definitely start a book club. I'd be down for that. So with that, have a great day, have a great weekend, and we will see you next time. Adios amigos.
