Hello, cadre. There's a plane going overhead right now where I live. There's going to be lots of planes going overhead, so I hope that you can hear me. It's also quite windy out and my umbrella overhead is freaking out. So if it falls on me, you will all be here live to see it. I am Michelle. I am Michelle. I'm a dating coach from Unstuck by Michelle. I started Unstuck by Michelle about six years ago and I've been doing dating coaching since then and I love it. And I love Cadre and I like that the platform gives space to talk about how dating can impact your mental health, right?

Dating is not always roses and butterflies. It is thunderstorms and blizzards and it's a lot of different things and we know that it can impact your mental health so I am here as a dating coach as someone who had quite the roller coaster with dating in my personal life to talk about dating and I'm married now I've been married for two and a half years and before that I was dating for quite some time and The title today, I don't remember exactly what it is. Monday Dating Blues, I think is what I went with.

Monday Dating Blues because I remember that weekends are hard. Weekends can be hard if you're single and dating for a lot of different reasons. One, if you work a standard kind of eight to four, nine to five, Monday through Friday, There's a lot of downtime on the weekend, right? Everyone's, what's your weekend's plans? What are you doing? This or that. And it can be hard if you wish you had plans with a special somebody or if a lot of your friends are coupled and they're doing coupled things and you're sick of being the third or fifth wheel.

I was always the third wheel with my friend Jim and Molly. Love them, still love them today, but I'd always hang on. I didn't always feel bad about it. Once I did a lot of my own self-confidence work, my own work in general, I felt less bad about it. But I just remember weekends being tough and then going into Mondays being like kind of like an emotional dating hangover a little bit or just, you know, everyone at work asks about your weekend. Did you go on, especially if you're single, right? People say, did you go on any dates?

They always want to hear about your dating life. And if it's not going that well, it's hard to talk about or you just don't want to talk about it because you know that it's just a roller coaster. And yeah, so let's talk about the Monday dating blues, the term that I coined today, how to get over it. I don't know if get over it is the right word. Maybe work through it, deal with it, but The thing about Mondays are, and this is very, I should say I'm not working this week. I took off work and so Monday today feels particularly refreshing to me.

I got to sleep in, go on a walk. It has been great. So I wish like how to treat the Monday blues is don't work on Mondays. But most of us don't have that luxury. So we got to work. But I think treating the Monday blues starts on Sunday night. I'm going to make sure my lighting is up on here. I think it starts on Sunday night. Oftentimes people stay up way too late on Sunday nights or partake in perhaps Sunday Sunday or they just, you know, overthink their week. The Sunday scaries, right? The Sunday scaries turn into the Monday blues.

And I think it is really essential to start your Monday on Sunday night. And that means getting a good night's sleep. getting a good night's sleep. Because when you wake up feeling more refreshed on Monday, that just gives you a better mindset in general to deal with things and to think about things. When you're tired, you're more likely to fall into negative mindset. You're more likely to get stuck. You're more likely to have lower mood. So setting yourself up for a better Monday by getting good sleep can really help with those Monday dating blues.

Something else to think about with Mondays is to think about Like reflect about the weekend and to say what went well for you and what do you want to do different? I know that I often on Mondays. I don't drink anymore. It's important for this story. I would often look back on my weekends and just feel embarrassed about something that I did. Whether I texted someone I shouldn't have at a time that I had no business texting or called someone or said something in the Mondays, I would just feel this.

shame, I guess. And at some point I had to say, okay, Michelle, do you want to keep having weekends like that or do you want to do something different? What do you want to do different this week? So if you look at your weekend and say, oh man, I isolated all weekend and that made me feel bad, right? Or I did too much. I went on too many dates this weekend and I got no relaxation time or, you know, I spent all my time on the apps. or I was really critical and judgy of other people, I was jealous of other people, like think about your weekend and what might be contributing to your Monday blues, your Monday dating blues.

And once you've established some things that may be a factor, the step two is saying, all right, what can I do differently? Now, here's the kicker. There's a lot of time between, it's a holiday weekend, so lots of y'all don't work on Fridays, but there's a lot of time between now and next weekend. So whatever you decide now. So if it is, okay, next weekend, I only want to go on one date. Next weekend, I want to make sure that I add some movement into my weekend. You know, next weekend, I want to make sure Sunday I don't drink.

I want to get to bed early. Next weekend, I want to stay off social media. Whatever intention you set today to set yourself up for better next weekend, you have to put a reminder in your phone on Friday. Right. Hey, remember again, it's a little different holiday week, right? But still the same. Those are sometimes longer and harder to put a reminder in your phone for Thursday or Friday that says reminder stay off social media this weekend. Reminder get good sleep on Sunday. Reminder say no if you're overbooked yourself.

Reminder say yes if you've underbooked yourself. So just establish kind of figure out what plays a role in your Monday dating Blues and set an intention to do something different next weekend. Now, like I said, there's a long time between now and next weekend. So you got to think about how you want your week to be. I was very guilty of being a rinse and repeater. You know, I'd have like, you know, my Monday of dating blues about maybe not going on a date, a date not working out, whatever. And then I live my life and kind of just feel better naturally by Thursday by having some routine, some structure.

And then by the time Friday rolled around, I did it again. I rinsed and repeat the same stupid text, too late, right? The same Sunday, fun day, staying up too late. All those things, I did it again. So then Monday, I feel this dating blues, lonely, embarrassed, and forget about it. You know the drill. So I think it also matters to be intent. When you're intentional about something, you don't just say it once, right? You put a reminder in your phone And you check back on it, right? You just follow up and say, how did I do with that goal?

What got in the way? Was getting, was not going on social media too hefty of a goal for the weekend? Okay, yeah, it was. Then maybe you can go on it once a day on your computer, right? Re, reframe. That's not the word I'm looking for. Re, redo, readjust. There we go. It's not even re, just adjust, adjust your goals to make them to feel more doable. But don't just give up 'cause it didn't work up one weekend. Ask for help, right? I'm here, I'm a dating coach. I do this with people all the time. Even though I'm not seeing clients this week, I texted a lot of my clients today and I said, Hey, how was your weekend?

How are you feeling? And it's a good kind of check-in and they appreciate it. And I say, What are your dating goals this week? Hey, are you still following through on the plan that we set together? So having someone to check in with can be super helpful. Yeah, but if you have a case of the Monday blues, you guys, this goes against probably what everyone is saying. It's so nice out. I was born for 90 degree weather plus. It's my jam. But you can still go on a walk around the block, do something to make your day a little better.

And I'm going to be bopping on here kind of periodically throughout the week because I have some time. Let me know what you want to hear me talking about in regard to dating, mental health, Monday blues. Lucky, stop. Lucky, my dog, eating stuff. I'm going to show you guys Lucky right quick. I don't think I can turn this around. That actually makes sense. Here's Lucky eating things. We'll find out later if that was a good choice. Bad choice. But yeah, you can follow me on Unstuck by Michelle on Instagram, on TikTok.

Follow me, comment, send me DMs about what you want to hear more of. Like I said, I've been doing dating coaching for six years and I'm really passionate about helping people to date and feel more confident in the process, to feel more successful, to feel just more grounded in the process. So please let me know. what you're looking for, how I can help, and I hope that your week or your day, I hope that your day is a little better by listening to this. Thank you all. Bye.
