  1. 0:01Cadre Happy Friday night! Shannon welcomes you to Cadre Today

Cadre Happy Friday night. Shannon is a person who lives with cptsd and anxiety. She also has a caregiver for her child with autism. The team gathers together at the end of the day to talk about the day.

  2. 1:10One of the pillars of Cadre is a word that I love

One of the pillars of Cadre is a word that I don't often think about, which is dignity. I would love to know what you think about the word dignity and how it relates to your mental health. It takes incredible strength to get up every day and put another foot in front of another. And that is dignified work.

  3. 5:14What's one thing that you did today in your mental health journey

Jules: What's one thing that you did today in your mental health journey? Rachel: I chose to honor my anxiety and I'm going to support my community in different ways. Jules: This community that is talking, this spending this short time together just to be here for each other.

Cadre Happy Friday night. It is Shannon. I hope this is going live. Apologies I missed my live stream before by a couple minutes and so I almost behind but I hope you are here now. It is 8:11pm on a Friday evening here in the Cadre sphere and this is Cadre Today evening edition. So welcome. So for those of you who might not know me, I am Shannon and I am actually part of the Cadre team. So I'm a person who lives with cptsd. I live with anxiety and I live with. I have a caregiver for my child with autism.

And so those are the things that I come to the Cadre spirit with every day. And we have been starting this new thing where Luke and myself and JC, who you already see in the morning, we are just gathering together here at the end of the day to say, all right, how was the day? How is everybody? I love all these hearts. Stephen, when I see you, junk food junkie speak, wonder Jules. Oh my gosh, you guys, I love that you're here. Stephen, I got your email. It was awesome. Thank you. I'll email you back.

Jules, I got your letter. That's awesome. I'll email you back. So, so many cool things. Okay, so number one, I just want to start, we've been starting these little end of day Cadre todays with how was your day? You know, maybe you are somebody r and you guys are going to see more and more of that as we continue to evolve. Trish Johnson is really leaning into that with us. So you all also know. So one of the pillars of Cadre is a word that I love that I don't often think about, which is dignity. So dignity is a really interesting word, I think, when it comes to mental health.

I do not think that we often think about that when we think about our own journeys with mental health. Tell me if I'm wrong. I would love to hear that from you guys again in the chat. But I, you know, I have not paired that word with my own mental health journey in any organic way. I have not thought, wow, this mental health journey has been dignified. You know, I am, I am navigating it with dignity. And what I actually love about this word, though, and connecting it to all of our journeys here, is that we are no less dignified as humans for what we live through than anyone else.

And in fact, I might argue that because of what we all live through and I know many of your stories here tonight. K. i see you as well. I don't know your story yet. I Would love to know it, but I know you're about to get a snowstorm, and so I wish you luck with that. Keeps freezing. I know. I would love to know what you think about the word dignity and how it relates to your mental health, because as I was about to say, I know what a lot of people here have lived through, and I would love to know how you think that reflects on you, because I would argue that we have worked through hard things, which requires us to do a lot of emotional work, which really means that that's pretty sophisticated stuff.

Right? Doing that kind of work is a not for the faint of heart. We show up every day. Whatever we're living through, we show up right? Whether it's anxiety, depression, whether it is substance use, whether it is caregiving, whether it is ptsd, whether it is all the million of other things that folks live through, whether it's grief. Right. It takes incredible strength to get up every day and put another foot in front of another, and to do that. And that is dignified work, my friends. And I think we need to honor that.

And I think it's such an interesting turn on its head. And I'm going to give all the credit in the world to Dr. Charisse because it's 100% her word. And so shout out to you, Dr. Charisse. I love that she included it as a Cadre, way pillar. And I just want you guys to think about that today. What's one thing that you did today in your mental health journey? One thing. That one small thing you did that really contributes to your dignity to show that, gosh, look at all this work I'm doing. Look at how whole I am as a person, even in the midst of all of that.

And so I'll share one for me that it's kind of weird. I don't know if it's weird. That's right. Word. But, you know, there were protests in my city today, and there were peaceful protests. And honestly, I'm really proud of how my city showed up. And I really wanted to go, and I was going to go actually with Anna from the kaju team, and then I got really anxious about it. So sometimes I get anxious in groups, and I was like, back and forth, back and forth. And finally I was like, I gotta honor my anxiety because my fear is I'm gonna go down there and I'm gonna get so anxious that ultimately I won't be able to be present in that experience.

So I chose to say okay for me and my anxiety, for my body, I am Going to honor that anxiety and I'm going to choo support my community in different ways. And so that was how I today honored and so speak wonder. You said when you think of dignity, you think of grace and honor. And I love that. I honored just like I'm sure you guys did today, I honored where I'm at. And I was able to say, you know what? Here's where I'm at today. I'm honoring my myself. And I' going to live my best life and be my best self today by honoring where I am.

And that is work, friends. That is not for the faint of heart. That is us showing up for ourselves every single day. And I think we should be really proud of that. So if I got cut out before, if you do want to just drop in the chat how your day was one to ten, we can just. Just sit with each other with that for one minute of how our days were. And for someone, maybe if you're alone tonight, maybe if you don't have someone sitting with you, we can just reflect that to each other and I can just say, I will just say, I see you.

I am here with you. We're all here together. Rachel says it isn't so much a matter of choice anymore. You're right. Not showing up equals giving up, which is no longer an option. A thousand percent, Rachel. Yeah, you're right. We don't always have a choice. Right. Our circumstances are for many of us what they are. And that's hard. And that continued again, that continued going forward day after day is still strength. It is still honor, something to be honored. And so I just want to say that I see that for you and in you.

Jules says you did a career transition. You've been talking more openly about your mental health from reform and how I didn't know how to deal with that at that time. That's so great. Jules, you. You have been on the life for many your Cadre story, your story is pretty amazing. You are an amazing person. Everyone on this live stream, honestly, is an amazing person. And so I love that we're sharing these stories with each other. Fire. You guys are amazing. You guys are amazing. I love seeing this and I love seeing this connection, community.

And so this is all it takes, right? This community that is talking, this spending this short time together just to be here for each other, to be a place where we can actually say these things out loud and honestly, just this authenticity and just this access to each other is so priceless. So six plus speak wonder. I love it. Amazing. You guys are amazing. I gave mine. I think. Sa.
