So welcome to the conversation. And get caught up on your rest when you get home tonight so you can catch up. He says it takes him three or four days to eventually catch up on sleep. Steves hopes that it eventually you start to feel a little bit better.
Hello, everybody. Happy Thursday to you. Welcome to what we do here as contributors. Today I am a very tired caregiver. I am also the proud parent. Part of what I have been dealing with is a med change in my life with my kiddo today. So welcome to the conversation.
Rick Steves: I hope you get some sleep and get some. And get caught up on your rest when you get home tonight so you can catch up. He says it takes him three or four days to eventually catch up on sleep. Steves hopes that it eventually you start to feel a little bit better.
The first day on a new med did not necessarily go as anticipated. All my best laid plans for this live stream went off. So he did eventually get it together. We will just have to see how the chaos goes.
Yes. So I am available that date. Once I calmed down, took a deep breath, looked at that date, everything made sense. So yes, let me hold that date for you. Lol.
So everybody, as I say to myself and to everybody, grace and space. What I give to all of us, nothing changes. Do it for ourselves. Speak Wonder. I will be back here on Saturday with more of them. Will report back with how my son did today.
Hello, Hello. Hello, everybody. Happy Thursday to you. Welcome to my vehicle. Hi. Happy Thursday to you. If you are watching me on Thursday, if you are watching me in the future, happy whatever day it is to you and whatever day you're watching, I hope that it is a good day for you. If not, shame on it. Not shame on you. Welcome to grocery store sushi, which is one of my favorite things. Hello. Speak wonder. I think that a grocery store sushi is one of the most fabulous things that we have in our universe.
Hello, I'm Susan. Rick Cram. Hello to you. I think that one of the things that we have in our universe that we get to be proud of is grocery store sushi. I think it's one of the most beautiful things that we get to say that we have as a first world problem is grocery store sushi. It is a beautiful, beautiful thing that we get to share in our life. Another thing that we have that I get, we. We get to share is popcorn. And that we get to say, this is a. Something that was given to me today is this amazing popcorn that we have that I get to share with you as well, which was given to me as a prize.
So that's what I have in my car right now that I want to share with you. Hi. Hello. And so that is a part of what I want to bring into the conversation today and share with you is what is help balancing me out today and part of the harvest that we have because today has been a challenge, because today part of what I have been dealing with is a med change in my life with my kiddo today. And I want to bring that into the conversation and why that has been part of the miasma of what I've been dealing with today.
And part of what these have been brought into the conversation today. And what I want to bring into what I think is. Is part of what we quite often are continually dealing with on caregiver Thursdays here. So welcome to the conversation, everybody. And I really appreciate what we get to deal with here, here in the Cadre sphere. So welcome to the conversation, everybody. Welcome to what we do here as contributors. And welcome to challenges, welcome to triumphs, welcome to conversations and welcome to wherever you are in the journey.
And congratulations wherever you are. And congratulations in continuing in the conversation. And I applaud you and I hope that you are continuing on and I appreciate you wherever you are. And I always like to level the playing field wherever we are. And I think it's always interesting as we continue to reintroduce ourselves. I am Ms. Shannon Paul. I am a comedian, I am a corporate speaker, I am a voice actor, I'm a benefit auctioneer and I'm variety of things. Today I am a very tired caregiver. I am also the proud parent.
I'm an adorable 70 year old who happens to be high support on the autism spectrum. Today I got my kiddo off to school at around 11:30am Central Time here in the great state of Minnesota. And so where I am at today and the reason that we got to school at 11:30am is that we did a med change here in my house. And so it was one of those days that full disclosure, it was one of those things that things work until they don't. And so I just, I eased into it and it was like, okay, we'll try this whole thing.
And so I gave him this new thing and it looked like it was going to work and then it was like not working. And one of the most recent post that I did in my house is that of like we are definitely an empath household. And I put them in this new thing and I could feel that it wasn't working because I felt like I was gonna black out a little bit on this little thing and man, it was not working. And I was really in this really gray space with this new med that we were trying. But it eventually got to the point that we both felt a little bit better and I finally got him off to school and he felt a little bit better and we decided to eventually decide I was gonna drop him off.
So I know that I sound a little bit fuzzy on everything, but he seemed better and I decided to drop him off at school anyway even though we were super late and he seemed in a lot better. So I just dropped him off anyway and we got there even though it was super late. I dropped him off anyway and he went and he's there, so. And I didn't get a call. And so we'll see what happens. I'mma drop him off and he's there and they didn't call me. And I'll see what happened when I picked him up and I will report back and see how it is.
So no makeup, no concealer. We'll see how it is when he got there. I will talk to him and I will talk to his caregivers once he got there and we'll see what his teachers thought and we'll see how it is there. And I'm going to eat my su. I picked up his meds, his regular meds, and we'll see how it is. So feel free to let me know how your day is going. Hopefully you guys are doing well. We'll see how it is. And that is how I feel. So how's your day going, Rick? How are you? Speak wonder over than.
Other than that, it's been a pretty good day. I checked some emails. It seemed okay. I'll check in with all of you and see how it is. Other than that, I did some grocery shopping. I picked up some stuff, you know, at. At some of my. Yeah, I. I'm a mess, honestly. That's how it is normally. I had time to, like, check in and plan what I was going to talk about today. Oh, I feel you, Rick. I get you. Yeah, I've had those days. I've had those days. Yeah, I have those days as well. I also have a pile of laundry in my hallway at home.
Yeah. That I'll catch up on when I get home. It's literally adjacent to the laundry basket that I will put it in the laundry basket when I get home. So I get that. Yeah. Yeah. So I figure I'll put it in the laundry basket and take it down here stairs when I get home and I'll put it in there and actually laundry it when I get home. I'm gonna play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends tonight, so I'll actually do the laundry when I get home. So I hope you get some sleep and get some. And get caught up on your rest when you get home tonight so you can catch up.
I know it's hard when you. It's hard to catch up on sleep, but hopefully you do. You know, I know that I do that sometimes, too, where I get eventually cut off on sleep. And so I have to do that sometimes, too, where it takes me like throughout the course of a week to eventually get caught up on sleep. Where it takes me maybe like three or four days to eventually get caught up on sleep. Where it's not. Maybe it takes me like three or four days to eventually get caught up on sleep. Where it's never like one day's process.
It's all right. Over three or four days I get up, you know, eventually I get rested enough that it's like, all right, now I feel better. Right. You know, it's never one day's process. It's all right. After three or four days, I start to feel a little bit better and I just know that it's like, okay, by the weekend I'll start to feel a little better and it feels better. So kind of Thing. So this is my comfort food. Well, I just kind of go, all right, guess just shoot for three or four days, feel better.
So I hope that it. It eventually you start to feel a little bit better. So thank you for keeping me company while I do this. I just knew that I could kind of tap in with. Tapping with you over this. I knew that you guys would give me a little bit of grace while I do this. I kind of, honestly, while I was in line in the pharmacy, my reminder went off that I was like, oh, shoot. I was literally in line at the pharmacist. And my reminder. Thank you for tapping the screen. My reminder for this went off and I was like, gosh darn it.
Right? My reminder went off that this was coming up and I was like, gosh darn it. Like, all my best laid plans for this live stream went off and I was like, gosh darn it. I had all my, like, reminders that went off. Like, I had all this great. All the plans to like, talk about this. I had all these, you know, because I have all my schedules. Like, what I was going to talk to about this was like, gosh darn it. I'm so organized normally. My shoot, my met my kit about to put on my makeup and do all this stuff and be all organized and put on my shapewear and do all that stuff to look all great about Cadre shoot.
Darn it. So I could have faked it and tried to get on here and look like I was together. But honestly, that would have been a gigantic lie. So I'm like, I am not together today. No. So there's no point in lying. So today would not have been my best day. It was not messy. It was messy today. So no, like, literally a few hours ago, like, no, my kid and I were not together. So But I'm glad that he did get it together, you know, kind of things. Like, it just was not good this morning. So he did eventually get it together.
I'm like, I'm just really worried, honestly. Like, I get it. Like, because what it was like, full disclosure, like, he. We changed his med because he's teetering on a new. Like, he's in this. This liminal space with his. With one of his. His weight management doctor is worried about some of his weight gain because he's at that with one of his meds. It's wondering about it zapped his metabolism and they want to know whether they should put him on a medicine like one of those GLP1 meds. And I don't want to put him on one of those because some of the side effects would be really difficult to suss out because of the way that his vocalization goes.
Absolutely. Speak wonder. And so I am concerned about it because of the way that his, because of where he is with the way that he processes language. So I'm very leery about putting him on those. So I am putting him on some different ones. So we will have to wait and see. And so we will have to wait. And so this one I am going to hold off on. And this was the first day on a new med and it did not necessarily go as anticipated. And we will just have to see how the chaos goes. And it was, it was a challenge.
And just to make it worse, it was like a half of a pill and it happens to be shaped like a little dog bone. So with me, me cutting a dog bone shaped pill in half, I like, it's just obviously like she was just. It was a mess. It was a mess. But we'll see, we'll see. Just. We had a, we just had to do a restart. We gotta do a restart. We had to do a restart. But he got there, we got there kind of thing. I got him there, Just had to re. Just. We got him there. Just the fact that I got him there, just like drove him home, stopped, put him in the house and then just came back.
And then I, I got him, I got him to school and then just drove and then sat in a, a parking lot a few blocks away and answered my email. And you should have seen me. I made no sense. Like, I like was answering email because this late, this women's conference, these people were texting me. You guys will understand this. These people were texting me about this women in tech concert conference. They were texting me about this women in tech conference. They're texting me and I'm answering this text this text conference and then I'll get off.
But this is what it is. This is why you shouldn't answer text messages. They're texting me and I'm responding and they're texting me and I'm going, well, I'm not available. And I'm texting them back and forth and I, I'm responding, I'm like, well, I'm not available and I'm not this. And that doesn't make any sense. And I'm texting them and I'm like, well, that doesn't make sense. And I'm not available and they, and they go, oh, well, it's not until next March. And I'm like, oh, oh well, I am available next March.
That is it. Because I'm thinking that it's like this weekend. And they're like, so that's why you shouldn't answer your text messages when you're under duress. Because I'm clearly answering. It's really. Exactly. The answers make a lot more sense when you were answering based upon. All of the answers make sense when you. All the answers make sense when you were reading them once. I'm like, I'm like, oh, yes, that. I'm like, yeah, that is right. Right. I am available next March. Yes, I am. Yes, I am available on that date.
Yes. Yes. So I am available that date. Yes, that is much more correct. So yes, let me hold that date for you. Yes. So absolutely. Lol. Put that on hold for you. So once I calmed down, took a deep breath, looked at that date, everything made sense. So everybody, as I say to myself and to everybody, grace and space. Grace and space. So that is the key answer for today. What I give to all of us, nothing changes. Do it for ourselves. Nothing changes. So everyone, I hope that you continue to give yourselves grace and space, everybody.
And if it doesn't, give it to yourself. I'm sorry if I am not the poster child for my own advice. Absolutely. Speak Wonder. You can have two of them. You can have three. I will be back here on Saturday with more of them and I will report back with how my son did today. I'm sure he did fine. I will let you know how his med change is doing by then and I'll let you know how I am doing as well. I'm sure we'll be doing fine because that's really how the universe lines up for all of us. And Rick, I would love to know how you are doing on your sleep.
And speak Wonder, I hope that you are doing well and feeling better as well. Because that's really what we are all doing is that we are finding out how we are continuing to give ourselves grace and space and are continuing to check in with each other and we are continuing to give ourselves that grace in our space and really just reminding ourselves that perfection is not what we're working for and reminding ourselves that, that. That sometimes we are not going to do. We're not going to give ourselves perfection in any way at all.
And we're going to forget that, that. That today is a Thursday and we're gonna have to rush to get to what we're gonna do on our. On our. So thank you for even doing this in an impromptu way for us as well. So I will remember on Saturday that we're going to be here. So thank you for being with me here and thank you for saving the space for me and thank you for being here with me regardless of how we are here. So I appreciate you both. So I'll see you here on Saturday, everybody. Thank you, Rick.
Thank you, Kathy. You are my heart. So I'll see you guys soon. Be well, everybody. See you.
