Hello, everyone in the Cadre sphere, this is Seth Perry. I'm a pastor. I'm in recovery from addiction. For 15 years, I've been clean and I live well with bipolar disorder. And today I'm at a church trip to Mall of America. We're taking our youth group here to the amusement park to go shopping and to have fun. And today I'm talking about having fun. That's my big goal to talk to you about right now. So why is it important for me to remind myself to have fun? This is the end of my programming year at church.

This season is over and I'll be taking pretty much a break with programming for youth and family and also for, like, adult education. I'll be slowing things down over the summer and I gotta remember to recharge and to have fun. So my question to you is, what about your life right now is gonna be fun over the next 90 days from now until the fall? Really? What are you doing to have fun? So this year's been a lot like, I'll be honest, I've. I've done a lot of funerals. I've done quite a bit of crisis ministry.

I've been very busy with many projects. My podcast came out May 1st and I had a large event on May 3rd. I just came back from a conference. So right now I need a break. I need a break, and as someone who's in a role where I care for other people, I need to be reminded to have that break. And today is that reminder. How do I get that reminder here at Nickelodeon Universe at Mall of America? Well, I'll tell you, I look around and I see people who are hardwired for fun, like families, kids, the kids that are right now on the roller coaster.

It's something that I think as an adult, I have forgotten about that sometimes all I need is a kid was a sandbox or a beach or a river or a lake or the forest or an amusement park to unwind, to recharge and to have fun. Somewhere along the way, as I began to become an adult and as the troubles and the challenges of the world began to weigh on my shoulders, I lost sight of how to have fun. I lost that skill. Yeah. So the goal for me really this summer is to reclaim that as best I can. So how am I going to do that?

Well, I've got vacation planned in July. I'm also going to have some staycation with my wife this week. Coming up, days set aside to do nothing, to unplug, to let my laptop just be off in the corner my phone be off in the corner to get the books out to go for a walk by the river. This is so needed for me and I think I encourage you all to do that as well. This week, today, tomorrow, over the next six, seven days, find a half an hour and have fun. Whatever that means to you, whatever that definition is.

Definitely I believe that you can do that. So I'm gonna keep having fun today. I'm gonna be chasing around the kids. I'm supervising. I'm going to be, I'm staying off of the rides. I have gotten to an age where I just, I can't do rides anymore. But that doesn't mean that this place right here isn't fun, isn't a good time. So yeah, today this is your reminder. Take a break, take a breath and have some fun. Let me know in the comments how you're going to do that. And as always, this is Seth Perry checking off from Talk Stigma.

It.
