If you suffer from low self esteem, doing some esteemable acts can be a shortcut to boosting a positive feeling for yourself. The negative internal beliefs that we have about ourselves, about the world around us, often those develop over the course of a lifetime, and as a result, undoing some of those things can take a really long time. In therapy, one of the things that you can do in the short term to boost that positive sense of self is some estee esteemable acts. This means being of service to other people that could be volunteering, donating money, donating your time, trying to show up for your friends, family, and loved ones in a way that puts their needs before your own.

Some of these things can really build that sense of feeling good about ourselves that can sustain us through that longer process of building up that internal positive self esteem.
