  1. 0:01Morning greeting and intro

Luke opens the video with a warm good morning, mentions music, and briefly introduces himself and his connection to Cadre. This short opener establishes the tone and context for the message.

  2. 0:55Addressing a tragedy and resources

Luke discusses the death of Hayden Panier, outlines her struggles with postpartum depression and substance use, and emphasizes the importance of reaching out for help. He points viewers to the Cadre Connector and available support resources.

  3. 2:35Family trip detour story

Using a recent weekend trip, Luke describes taking the wrong route and facing an hour-and-a-half detour, contrasting frustration with a calm, resilient approach. He explains how training discipline and intentional mindset turned the delay into a chance to connect with family.

  4. 5:39Life and business detours

Luke broadens the detour lesson to careers and entrepreneurship, describing how goals rarely follow a straight line and encouraging viewers to stay adaptable and grateful. He closes with an uplifting call to view setbacks as opportunities and to keep moving forward.

Good morning. Good morning, everybody. Luke here. Happy Monday to you and yours. How we doing? I'm doing absolutely wonderful. 97 out of 100 days. I always have those three. It is what it is, but don't we all? Starting with a little Valerie by Stevie Winwood. Gosh, you can't go wrong with that song. Eric Pierds. I took that and tweaked that a little bit to call it call on me. Awesome version. It's a little bit more techno. But regardless, little Steve Winwood. Good start to the day. Happy Monday.

Here we go. Oh my gosh, what a great day to be alive. Again, my name is Luke Wentland. I've been at Cadre since day one. There's no community, no place, no space I'd rather soon be than here sharing all of messages, growth, what I've learned, all the things through my life. Really excited to be here and hopefully this Monday when we can share a little bit of space, we learn a little bit about one another and all the things. So, number one, I just have to address the Hayden Pantier losing her 36 years old.

drug overdose. I was just listening to her whole story before I left this morning and really sad, really super sad. struggle with postpartum depression, kind of sparked things into alcoholism, sparked it into opioid use disorder, and then once became quote unquote abstinent. Then she really reached a new level of depression and anxiety and she didn't know how to really face it and how to deal with it. And then it sounds like she yet again overdosed, which is just too sad. It's happening in her world too young, shouldn't be happening.

So, well, that's too bad. But it's why we do the work. And it's also why I think it's really important to know like wherever you are, wherever you are, wherever you're located, there's somebody that could be in a $10 million mansion in Nashville that is struggling at an epic level. So if you are struggling, be sure to reach out for care. Be sure to reach out for support. Call the Cadre Connector. Text the Cadre Connector. Do whatever it takes. So right when you go on the app, there's that little section right in the main homepage and it says talk to somebody now.

That is the Cadre Connector. You will be joined with love. You'll be joined with empathy and you'll be joined with individuals who care about taking your next step. Okay, so that's number one. The second one, we always go up north this weekend, like around this time each year, and we visit our dear friends, the Ballases. We've been doing this now for, I think this is our fifth summer. It's an amazing weekend. We just love it. Love it so much. Good connection, good community. We go fishing. It's just a knee board, we tube, we sleep, we eat.

It is just so much fun. We have a blast. Fire, bonfires, food, s'mores. It's just a phenomenal weekend. Well, on our way up, it's a long drive. It's like called 3 1/2 hours. And so right about 15 minutes before the cabin, there's a detour. And the detour either goes left or right. And my wife's like, let's go right. So we went right. And we went right and we start to realize real quickly, this is going to be a long detour. we went an hour and a half out of the way. Yep, you heard that right. An hour and a half out of the way.

If we would have went to the left, it was like 20 some minutes. But you live, you learn, you have issues, all the things. But so the detours of life, okay? When detours hit you, how do you show up? right? So I'm not knocking my wife. This isn't why I'm doing this, but like she was very frustrated. She's very upset, very frustrated. I can't believe this. Adding an hour and a half. We should just turn home. Like it was just, it was frustration. And then that kind of riled up the kids a little bit.

So then the kids were feeling away and all the things. And then meanwhile, dad is cool, calm and collected and an absolute cucumber. Like these are why you do Masogis. These are why you work your ass off to push yourself in discipline. This is why you do this, because when times like this come, where you have an hour and a half detour, it is nothing. Go walk 26 miles a day for weeks on end. Go do it. When you do something like that, you're going to realize real quickly, you're going to realize real quickly that an hour and a half detour is nothing.

And quite frankly, it can be a beautiful moment of time. So I looked at it as an hour and a half detour. I'm like, okay, let's communicate with my wife. Let's have a good conversation. Let's see what the kids are doing. Let's connect with the kids. Let's play another game. Let's ask another question. Let's do whatever. But let's sure as heck not have this be like a dampener on our day. It didn't mean it didn't suck. It didn't mean it wasn't frustrating. It didn't mean it was all those things. But When you stretch yourself and you push yourself in other places, whether it's running, whether it's walking, whether it's mental toughness, whether it's through a sauna, whether it's whatever it is, you realize real fast that an hour and a half detour is nothing.

And why get frustrated? Why get upset? Why be anything than grateful? Like we are gonna go have the most amazing weekend. So we're an hour and a half late than we would usually be. So what? Get over it. So that's my two cents. That's how I look at those things in life when they happen. And detours, like in business, like these are the other things. Like people who start companies and start businesses, they think it's just gonna be this linear path. I always say, you leave LA, San Diego, whichever city you like most, you leave LA, you, San Diego, and your goal is to get to New York.

Okay, most people just think you're gonna drive straight across and you're going to go straight through Oklahoma and straight through the, hills over in Appalachia. And then you're just going to arrive, past Virginia and just show up straight in New York. And everybody thinks like, that's the path. And if that's what you think it's going to be, I'm going to tell you, you're going to be like so mistaken. What's going to end up happening is you're going to leave and you're going to leave LA, you're going to leave San Diego.

You're going to hit Denver and you're going to be like, oh my gosh, we've got to go all the way to Seattle. and then you're gonna drive down to Texas, then you're gonna head back to Nevada, then you're gonna head over to Oklahoma, then you're gonna go to Minnesota, then you're gonna fly down to Florida, then up to Michigan, then down to Pennsylvania, then finally over to New York. And if you think it's any other way than that, just ask any entrepreneur that's been there and done it and done it once, done it twice, done it three times.

The goal naturally is to keep that line as close as possible on your way to your path and to your goal of New York. But the odds of that happening are very, very, very low. And again, the odds of it happening in life are even lower. So like, who are you and what are you going to be and why? So I leave you with that and have an amazing, incredible, like off the charts Monday. And if a detour happens, say great. Be grateful, right? Oh my gosh, I lost my job. I can't believe I lost my job. Awesome.

Maybe this is the best next step in your life that you needed to take a risk. Maybe this is exactly what you and your wife or partner needed. Maybe this was Maybe this was the next thing perfect for you. Maybe you're starting your company and you're down to your last dollars. Okay, what next? You could be super grateful for this opportunity, right? So think of it like this. Detours hit, are you gonna kind of like whine and cry? Are you gonna take the next steps and make it happen? So who are you?

All I know is when detours hit, I'm ready to go.
