Hi, cadre spear. Hi. Hi. Hi. Kristy Larson here, joining you on Wednesday. July 1st. Uh, 2026. It is 1230 here, central time. Um, and I'm getting ready to have lunch. I was just thinking about what I might have for. Lunch. And I've got some really good carrots and some really good cucumbers that I'm gonna have. I don't know about you, but. This is the time of the year where the farmer farmer's markets are bustling. And I love to go and pick up. The fresh produce that they have at the farmer's market.
Hello? Hello, welcome. Rosa. Um, yeah, I'm just really, I, this is the time of year that everything seems. So fresh and delicious. And so I try to eat as much fresh produce as I can this time of year. From the farmer's markets, because it is absolutely delightful. Um, I wanted to talk to you today about the fact that this is month seven. Of 2026 and. For me, time has absolutely flown. Flown we've had ups, we've had downs. Um, some of you may know. That in, uh, last, in the fall of last year, early winter.
Late fall of last year. Um, my mom had her first brain surgery. So when I was kind of reflecting back on the first six months of the year, I was thinking about where we were. All the way back. Um, in January and the recovery road that was ahead for mom and how excited we were. About getting her back to a normal routine again and getting her. Well, and, and making sure that she was ready for camping this summer and was able to get her. Walks in and do all of the things that she loves to do in the summer.
I was just in month four of the. Job that I'm in now. And so. Um, I was learning the ropes, right. There was a lot to learn lot to take in new processes. No. Systems you name it. Um, and. You know, it just planning for a spring conference was happening. Um, in the springtime for an April conference and thinking about, um, all the work. Dad was doing in care, taking the house and keeping it organized and clean and. Mo mowing the lawn in the spring and getting. Um, getting their camper ready for. Uh, summer and all the things that he was doing.
Just for mom because she was still in recovery mode and then came, may. And for us may was tough because may came with news that mom's blood. Flow wasn't um, where they wanted it to be and they thought another surgery would do her. Do her well, and they were able to find another vein that would work to increase that blood flow and. So we went into um, we went into the year hopeful. And, uh, got that hit in may, that mom needed a second brain surgery and, um, have it, my mom is 79 years old. She's a really tough cookie.
She, um, is incredibly. Strong. She fight if she's a fighter. Um, and. We prayed about it. We thought about it. We talked about it as a family and we knew that. The surgeons, um, had mom. In the Palm of their hands and they knew exactly what they were doing. So we went into June, June 16th. Was her second brain surgery. And now in month seven, I can say. Um, mom is in rehab. She is recovering. She's doing all right. Um, she is still physically very strong. It's just her mental. Um, state is really just struggling to that brain swelling is, is creating.
Words and things and images in her brain that aren't. Aren't quite there. So we're working on it. We're getting her there. Um, I'm gonna go see her this afternoon. My dad. Has been there, bless his soul every single day, all day, um, sitting with her. And carrying her, caring for her and helping her with her meals and doing all the things you. Wonderful caregivers do, um, that are just true saints in my, in my world. And so. Looking ahead. I'm thinking about all the really fun things we still have last this year.
It's. It's month seven. Um, but we've got lots of fun things. We still get to do this year. And that's the. Things that I really want to focus on. So my focus is gonna be on camping. And bonfires and I'm splitting wood at our lake home for winter. Indoor wood fires, um, spending time with family. And friends, uh, I'm looking forward to fall colors. Colors. And what comes of fall colors on the leaves met crisp fall weather. I look. Forward to that. Um, not that I love snow, but I always look forward to our first winter.
Uh, snowfall, just because of the beauty of it. And, um, if it's not too much, snow that I have to shovel too much. It's great. Um, I love fall and winter sports. So I look forward to that. Holiday time is coming, right. That happens in the last months of the year. Um, so. Being able to see family and friends. And then of course mom's recovery and getting her to a place where she is. Better. She can move around. Maybe even late this summer, she can go camping. And she can go for her walks that she loves to do.
And. Um, we can take her, you know, take her places and do fun things. And so. I'm really looking forward to those pieces, um, in the next months ahead. And. I ask you, what are you looking forward to for month seven month, eight month. Nine month, 10 month 11. Month 12, right of 20, 26. We still have some to go. So think. About the things that you're looking forward to, the things that you want to carry into each one of those months. Um, like I said, for me, it's all of the things that I listed that I really look.
Forward to alongside knowing that there's gonna be some tough times and some tough things. But really carrying forward those fun. Exciting things that we get to do in the rest of 2026. So. I encourage you to look ahead. I encourage you to think about whatev, what are some of your favorite things you wanna make sure. Happen, um, in the remaining months of 20, 26 and get each of those sprinkled. In as much as you can, because. You never know when, um, the, the hard things are gonna happen. And so if you've got a few good ones, it's kind of carry you through.
That always, always can be helpful. And you know, the cadre sphere is always here for. You so, um, join us anytime. Join, um, the fine, fine contributors. Join the team at cadre. Um, we.
