  1. 0:00Alyssa shares a breathing technique to help you through grief moments

Alyssa is the manager of bereavement services. She shares a breathing technique to calm yourself when you're feeling stressed or anxious. Follow this pattern for about three to five minutes to bring yourself back down.

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by all of the questions you're getting asked about when you're grieving? Well, I'm here to share a little bit of a technique that's called a breathing technique with you. My name is Alyssa, and I'm the manager of bereavement services. First, I really want you to find a comfortable space free of those distractions and focus on your breathing techniques to calm yourself when you're feeling stressed or anxious in those moments, notice how you are feeling both in your mind and your body.

Let's follow this pattern for the next couple of moments, just as a practice technique, but really in the future, if you're ever feeling overwhelmed in those moments, follow this pattern for about three to five minutes to just really kind of bring yourself back down so you're no longer feeling stressed or anxious. But right now, let's just go through it step by step. First, you're going to inhale and hold it for 3 seconds. Inhale, one, two, three. Hold that for 4321. And then you're going to exhale.

123456. You can repeat this for as long as you want. But again, if you just continue to follow this pattern for three, three to five minutes, going back and forth by inhaling, holding, and exhaling, it's a great breathing technique to kind of get you through those anxiety moments.
